I think it would look very pretty if Fingolfin's heraldic device was ecthed/engraved into Lapis Lazuli. With the natural specs of silver in it, it perfectly represents the stars in the night sky.

You know what's funny about that cat post is that I'm trying to create a device for my cat for his birthday. I try to do a portrait every big birthday and I plan to embroider a mantle with him on it for his 20th. The only problem is I suck at embroidery, so he might be 21 before I'm done tbh… His device will be significantly less action-packed than that post just because he is so lazy. I even considered copying that pose but decided it wouldn't be right to suggest he has ever caught an animal in his whole life so he will be SEATED lol.
I'm not saying that I need to see this completed masterpiece... I am demanding to see this completed masterpiece. Please.
I'll also trade you a picture of my 17 year-old golden girl and her 16 year-old sister for your distinguished gentleman.
Saturday is almost here....
I designed a heraldic device for my OC, Wilwarindil! Since he’s a Maia of butterflies, I wanted to incorporate those in there somehow. And I think it worked out well! :DDD I also took inspiration from Melian’s device, alongside the others that Tolkien designed.
To be honest, I drew the first sketch and decided to run with it, and then I drew the other two afterwards loll The second sketch has a more spring/summer-y feel (an alternate version of sorts, though both can represent his service to Vána and Nessa); the third one represents Wil after he enters Námo’s service.
Also, if y’all have followed my previous posts of Wil and his Edain friends, you’ll probably recognize the golden butterfly in his device! If anyone’s interested, the meaning behind that can be found here XDD
It's International Heraldry Day! Let's see your Heraldry.
Here's mine:
Vert, a cross of Jerusalem nowy quadrate and a base argent.
Sorry if this might be an odd question, but I thought you might have a good answer for it. I’m looking to commission an artist to have my friend’s coat of arms drawn, would you have any artists in mind? I know heraldry is big in the SCA so I was wondering if you knew of anyone who does this sort of thing.
Ooooo, good question. I'm sure I have some mutuals who can recommend someone who might be taking commissions.
Unfortunately, most of the scribes I know are backlogged on that sort of work or simply don't do personal requests like that. I hope you can find someone, though! I think that is an AMAZING idea for a gift.
The Crown Tournament list for the East was released today. 88 total combatants! Deep pools but let's do this. Here are the pics I submitted for the Tournament field guide.
Where might I find a good resource for learning all the deliciously dumb words, symbols and rules of heraldry?
Deliciously dumb is a perfect description, and I love it. If you are a beginner, then I would recommend this lovely bit that teaches you how to put together your own while describing the rules and including the vernacular:
