3.11.2019 | Introduction: A Year To Go

It’s been awhile since I have posted on here. So, first and foremost, Hello everyone! I am one year away from my bachelor's degree. This semester I'm taking two courses that can really add to my skill set. I'm taking Narrative Arch and Digital Communication: Strategy and Planning.

Not only do I want to improve my storytelling ability, but I believe taking Narrative Arch can help develop my skill to find and analyze a story.

Honestly, I don’t know what to except from my Digital Communications course. However, it sounds fancy! So, I will have to do a follow up review after I have taken the course. But I can say that the course textbook focus is on public relations and marketing, so I’m excited to take it..  

Send me all your positive energy, Im going to need it! I’m taking 18 credits this semester, the most I’ve ever took. But I’m up to the challenge.

The new job for life: Learning

The traditional view about the life span of higher education is slowly beginning to change. One reason is that college graduates are realizing that the one-and-done approach to education after high school is no longer suitable for a workplace in which the skills to keep up in any job are churning at a faster rate.

Now that I am well into my second semester, I have had the opportunity to settle into my classes and get a grasp on my coursework. Three things I want to take from this semester:

Learning the origin of American Media

The relationship between business and ethics in media.

Understanding media as an social science.

#HerkTalk: Finals | 11.28.17

During my Thanksgiving break I finally got a chance to read Hip-Hop artist Gucci Mane’s Autobiography which I will review on a later post (follow hashtag #HBC for book reviews). Also, I realized that the school semester is almost over and NO I haven't finish my Final papers yet. But if you are like me and still have a lot of work to finish up this semester, remember life is like a marathon race, its not how you start the race its how you finish the race. Finish Strong my friends.

And when we socially have positive effects we are the best version of ourselves. In this StoryCorps interview these ladies tell us a story about one Friday morning, September 13.2013 in New York City’s subway a train stalled underground for two hours. But surprisingly what seemed to be a bad morning turn into a good day, the train conductor Paquita Williams kept the passengers in high spirits and maintained congenial surroundings. This story not only creates a ethical bar for us to reach for when engaging with one another in both pleasant and unpleasant situations, but also sets an professional standard for us that if you are going to do a job, do it right with some humanistic approach.
