Regardless of how someone in the gaming world feels about politics, who could forget Hermain Cain’s presidential run in 2011, when somehow SimCity and Pokemon became part of the regular political news?
Cain, looking proud of his virtual city.
It started when a Huffington Post writer picked up on the fact that Cain’s “9-9-9″ tax plan sounded similar to the default plan found in SimCity 4. In fact, the theory picked up so much steam that Cain repeatedly had to deny his plan came from a video game!
Hiding his love for SimCity!
Readers might shrug off the story and Cain’s tie-in to the video game world as a coincidence, but how does anyone explain the Pokemon lyrics quoted within a serious speech at an official presidential debate!
Cain wants to catch them all!
If anyone is still not convinced Cain referenced Pokemon on purpose, he did it again when he suspended his campaign after the sex scandal allegations!

Presidential candidates should not hide their love for video games. The politicians entering the political landscape today grew up with Atari and the original Nintendo. Many voters did as well. Embrace the connection.
