Chapter One - Part One
It was a silent night. The girl, Kurina, was enjoying instant Ramen as she watched the stars from her creaky porch. It had been awhile since she was allowed to enjoy herself like this, but it appears as if the town itself was able to finally calm down.
The things that happen here was imprinted on the land for so long, she never thought everything would be alright.
But it looks like she was wrong.
She sat on her porch for hours, the stars glittering above her. In one hand she twirled the item between her fingers. Her mother gave them to her on her sixteenth birthday, and Kurina treasured it.
Her bliss was broken by the sound of a dog barking. She groaned, trying to ignore the animal. But there was another bark, and then another. Something got all of them worked up, a cat or perhaps a bear, maybe. No matter what it was, the girl decided the best idea was to go inside. She reach for the doorknob. Her fingers were grazing it when she froze. A long howl found its way through the barking and to her. It was unnatural and painful, and not like any animal she knew of. The sound itself caused tears to swell in her eyes.
It was a silent night. That is, until it wasn’t.
Many reported a strange noise that night, but the real news was the Maymi Search was back from her ‘vacation’.
