This is why you should never leave me a pencil and a piece of paper when I'm bored ~ - From left to right: Andúril, Aragorn's sword Glamdring, Gandalf's sword Andhafang, Arwen's sword Herugrim, King Théoden's sword Orcrist, Thorin Oakenshield's sword Sting, Bilbo and Frodo Baggins' sword - I wanted to draw Narsil, Isildur's sword, too, but I miscalculated the swords' dimensions 😅

Herugrim was the sword of King Théoden of Rohan, hidden from him for many years by his traitorous councilor Gríma Wormtongue. After being cured by Gandalf, Théoden recovered the sword, and rode with it to the Battle of the Hornburg and the Battle of Pelennor Fields.

Historias - Espadas en la Tierra Media (Herugrim)

Herugrim, espada del Rey Théoden.

El nombre de esta espada proviene del inglés antiguo, teniendo heru/heoru el significado de espada & grim significa feroz, con ira; lo que da por sentado que el significado del nombre sería algo como: Espada Feroz.

Está espada perteneció al Rey Théoden, monarca de Rohan y último miembro del segundo linaje de la Marca. Está espada era larga y su vaina tenía esmeraldas incrustadas así como cierres de oro.

Cuando el Rey Théoden cayó ante la influencia de Saruman, Gríma ocultó a Herugrim en un baúl de Meduseld, pero con la llegada e intervención de Gandalf y al este poder liberar la mente de Théoden, el rey recuperó sus fuerzas al empuñar a Guthwinë (la espada de Éomer que este ofreció a su Rey), sin embargo, Théoden solicita enseguida su propia espada.

Théoden empuñó a Herugrim durante la Batalla de Cuernavilla así como en la Batalla de los Campos de Pelennor, donde lamentablemente este resultó muerto en batalla.

Al término de la Guerra del Anillo, Herugrim fue llevada de vuelta a Edoras donde fue enterrada junto a su dueño, el Rey Théoden, así como con otras armas y objetos personales del rey, residiendo en los montículos que servían de tumba para los del linaje del Rey Théoden.
