Elrond's outfit is based off of a melange of ancient dress, most notably Assyrian, with some medieval dagging in there to evoke the shape of leaves. Gandalf is based largely on the Quechua people who inhabit the Andean region of South America with some Viking touches here and there.

Just when I think I'm done with my Silmarillion crashouts...

I find myself watching the Hobbit. In tears. All because Thorin poo poo's Orcrist and Glamdring.

He doesn't know the elves who weilded those blades lived in Gondolin. That the elves in Goldolin shared his greatest pain. They watched their beloved city burn. They were forced to flee. But they were never able to return.

...Why does it hurt so much??? 🥺

I woke up this morning thinking about how crazy it must have been for Elrond when Gandalf pulls up with Thorin&Co to Rivendell with nothing other than great-grandpa Turgon's sword. The sword that he (speculatively) died with in Gondolin. Like how-- what are the chances that this sword makes it out of the valley, across Beleriand, over the Ered Luin, and into a troll cave the the company just happens to stumble across.

Can you imagine how crazy it would have been for Glorfindel???? I haven't read the hobbit in a while so idk if my guy Glorfindel was back and in Rivendell at this point but omg if he was, and he saw the sword of his king and its mate right before his very eyes, an age after he saw Gondolin fall... yeah think about that

Been on a big Lord of the Rings kick lately. THE PLAN is that I’m going to draw all 9 members of the Fellowship of the Ring in my own style based on their book descriptions. However I know myself and I know how I experience burnout, so I’m just taking it one at a time. If I do it, great. If not, welp, we got Gandalf and he’s my favorite anyways. I have a full body version as well that I’ll release if I end up finishing the set. That’ll be my motivation to follow through on my plans.
