okay now i'm curious how you'd answer the character ask for draco do him next
How I feel about this character: GOD. I LOVE HIM. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. Okay first off, Draco was my first favorite character ever and will always be my favorite fictional character of all time. He is genuinely so.....misread by so many people, including the goddamned author of the series. I said it and I don’t take it back. The thing about Draco is that he was brought up with a lot of privilege with very demanding parents and a legacy he was expected to live up to. He had all these ideas he had to unlearn throughout the series and this was an uphill battle for him because the influences that taught him all these terrible morals were still in his life (his parents, other deatheaters, voldemort himself). But through the series, especially because of Harry and because of the war, he was forced to question these things. And at the end of the day Draco did a few things. 1. He didn’t pull the trigger. He couldn’t kill a person because despite being told to and knowing if he didn’t it would put his own life in danger, he couldn’t kill Dumbledore. 2. He slowly started to take Harry’s side and refused to identify him when given the opportunity and 3. He did have a choice. When people say he didn’t have a choice that’s some bullshit. Draco made a lot of choices and at the end of the day he chose to go with his family. But this was the family that had been changed. This was his mother who helped Harry and was a key turning point in the outcome of the war. I just!!! I will stop here but I love Draco dearly and I think he was a little shit, absolutely, and very arrogant. But he is sometimes seen only for these qualities and not for his arch.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Harry motherfucking Potter considering they were canonically motherfucking obsessed with each other. My non-romantic OTP for this character: Would absolutely love to see him integrated in the far future with the squad of Gryffindors but also I like the idea of him, Blaise, and Pansy all sort of finding ways to recover together post war.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Every time I hear “the boy who didn’t have a choice” I actually have to punch a wall. My knuckles hurt so much. Please relieve me. Everybody has choices and to imply that somebody is ever without choice. Stop that. Draco did the bad things he did but he equally made the good decisions he did so enough. He should be held accountable from both ends and not excused.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I really like canon Draco and I think his decisions and his outcomes were what needed to happen within the series.
