Hi! Your blog is amazing and super informative. I saw your previous post on essay topics and I was wondering if you have any more topic ideas. My philosophy professor just threw a 10 page paper at us that wasn't previously on the syllabus; it's due in a couple of weeks and he told us to come up with our own topics, so we're all scrambling for ideas. The class is Philosophy of Literature (LOTR is our main text) and it's taught from a Catholic perspective, if that helps. Thanks in advance!
Ah, yes, got to love those surprise essays...
Okay, I took a look through my "philosophy” tag and basically pulled out anything I thought was geared more towards LotR or Catholicism, but there’s still plenty more posts where that came from, so if nothing here looks helpful, that’s where I’d recommend you look. Anyway, hopefully one of these will help get you started:
Nienna: She Who Weeps (this ties into LotR, I promise)
The Eagles: Deus Ex Machina or Machina Ex Deo?
Atheism in Middle Earth
Where to Find Tolkien’s Thoughts on Religion
Why Did Frodo Volunteer to Take the Ring?
Lord of the Ring’s Moral Message
Origins of Evil
Comparing Aragorn and Boromir
Stockholm Syndrome, the One Ring, and Addiction
Are Men Ever Better Than Elves?
Tolkien and Keeping Your Word
Frodo: Fate or Free Will?
Symbolism of the One Ring
Are Orcs Evil By Nature?
Isildur’s Portrayal in the Movie Adaptations
Why Do the Istari Look Old?
Lord of the Rings Essay Topics (in case anybody else needs to find it)
Good luck!

hewasneverminetolose answered to your post “Can you guys give me a hand?”
For a pop feel, Rent, Footloose, Mamma Mia and Legally Blonde. Also The Lion King and Avenue Q (amongst other stuff as well)
Oh my god, I was obsessed with RENT for the longest time! Like literally I left my DVD at home for a day and almost died :P

At least Mulan is now on which is always a good thing.

A confession from a teenage idiot
I feel like Eponine. I like this guy at my school, but he is into another girl. I spent this morning singing songs from Les Miserables, mainly the “he doesn’t love me songs.” I question my judgement on liking this guy and I want it to go away, but it won’t. I’ve always wondered if I have ever made anyone feel the way that he makes me feel.

Does Mulan count? Or any other Disney movie with badass characters?
I actually haven't considered any animated movies/TV shows, and not sure if my Gender Comm professor would like that idea either. I'm planning on talking to her about my various ideas more to see if she warms up to anything in particular. Basically I need enough stuff to talk about for a 7-10 page paper, and a subject to teach to the class for a day. As for my other class, I've kind of already written stuff about animated films cause took a History of Animation film class and thought now look at non-animated films.
