i know you don't headcanon stydia with a child, I don't really either tbh, but I wanted to know your opinion on what they would call their kid, cause i fkn hate the claudia/allison cliche with a passion. Like i see them giving their kid a name that might start with an A or C as a subtle tribute, but never the actual name. It physically makes me cringe. oh or ARIEL, like just no.
I absolutely agree with the A or C thing! Actually, @claryfailchild and I spend way too much time looking for female scientists and mathematicians with names that start with A or C to try to find one that feels right for Stiles and Lydia’s kid. I personally prefer an A name that has to do with a female scientist, and then Claudia as a middle name :) That’s just my preference, though! There’s a scientist named Ada, and we really like Ada with Addie as the nickname, and they had “Daddy and Addie” days.
Personally, I’m not a fan of Allison/Claudia either. I can’t see Stiles and Lydia as the kind of people who would do that to their kid or who would want that constant, living reminder of what they’ve lost. Especially when having a child is bringing new life into the world and trying to move on. I just can’t see Stiles and Lydia wanting to give that kid the name of someone who’s name symbolizes loss to them. An homage? Absolutely, 100%. But the actual name, no. Plus then the kid would feel like she had to live up to the expectations of Allison, her mom’s dead best friend– who Lydia only knew for a YEAR– instead of being her own person.
The scientist's name is Ada Lovelace and she is perfection. She is a mathematician, a writer, and often credited as the first computer programmer. And she's Lord Byron's only legitimate child. I strongly recommend looking her up!
