Your Stupid Ways To Make Me Smile
Valentine's Day Special! | Hex3

That stupid smile. Three thought to himself, pouting as he watched Hexsy work. As usual, she was doing fantastic at her job, beaming as she saw the happy smiles of the customers.Â
And as per routine, he was thinking negatively about Hexsy. Finding ways to silently pick her apart. It was an improvement from how he treated her, but it didnât mean he liked her. Just tolerated her.
Or that stupid tail. How does that thing even work? He snorted under his breath, his brows furrowing.
Or⊠that personality. Sheâs bold, determined, and passionate. Definitely more like that blue idiot. He softened, his gaze on her changing as he began to regard her in a different light.
He couldnât stop himself from thinking that way, leaning his head on his palm. Or how she fended off Mario in that mech. She must be really strong. I wonder if sheâs a gentle giant.
His mind started to panic as his heart took over. Or how she just carries herself. How she smiled when we completed our mission with the notebook. How she always asks how I am.
She seems so happy to see me. Itâs like she brightens up or her smile grows wider.
His thoughts went silent for a moment before his eyes widened. The realization hit him like a truck.
Oh.
Oh no.
He stood up straight, pressing his palms to his cheeks. He was hot. Stupidly, he looked up and met Hexsyâs gaze. Butterflies swirled in his stomach, his heart pounding hard. Why did he feel like he couldnât walk, couldnât speak, like he wanted her to keep looking at him?
âIâm going on break, ask Eggdog if you need help!â He suddenly yelled out, running out from behind the counter and to his bathroom. He practically slammed the door shut, cupping his hand over his mouth.
Oh, he was screwed. How could he have let himself go soft?
His eyes closed as Hexsyâs curious smile replayed in his mind, clear as day and making him a mess. He wanted to see that smile forever, wanted to make her smile, wanted to smile like that, too.
ââââââ ââ ââ â âââââ
That moment in the bathroom was around six months ago when he realized he fell in love with Hexsy, and hard for that matter. He still remembered how awkward he was when he asked her out and their dinner together.
He chuckled to himself, drifting off in thought for a moment, finding humor in the idea of telling his old self that he and Hexsy were together.
Three stood in the kitchen, eager to get one of his many surprises of the day for her ready. The two had only been dating for about 5 months, but gosh, was it the best five months of Threeâs life.
Hexsy was just⊠words couldnât describe her. She was soft, loud, not afraid to speak her mind, funny, deep, loving. He could go on forever. The one thing he could use to describe her best was⊠perfect.
Today was Valentineâs day, and boy, did he have plans for her. He wanted to make her feel like the most special girl in the world, like how she made him feel like the most special guy every day.
He dished out the pancakes he had cooked, along with the other breakfast items he had made, setting them on the counter before he peeked into their shared bedroom, observing Hexsy while she was in a state of calm.
Hexsyâs sense of smell awoke her first, her heterochromatic eyes glazed over in drowsiness before she fully processed that she smelt something sweet. Groaning softly, she turned over, nuzzling into the sheets and craving the warmth beside her.
âMhhâŠâ She huffed into the comfort of her pillow, her ring light tail thumping under the covers. SMG3 quietly shuffled into his bedroom, observing Hexsy while she experienced the bliss of sleep.
Three chuckled at the sight of her snug in his bed, walking towards her before slipping into the covers. He pulled her close by the waist, pressing their foreheads together. âSleepyheadâŠâ He purred into her ears, causing her eyes to crack open, softening as she wrapped her arms around him loosely.
âSweetheart, itâs about time you wake up. Itâs February 14th.â He chuckled, the sound vibrating through his chest and making Hexsy hum in contentment. Her head moved to his shoulder, breathing in his scent and finding comfort in the familiarity of coffee beans and a musk that was just him.
âI made breakfast.â He saw Hexsy instantly perk up, her ring light tail thudding against the bed softly at the sound of food. Her eyes looked into his ruby ones, smiling.
âYou did?â She asked in a deep, melodic voice. Her voice was low and sleepy from the lack of use and the fact she had just woken up.
âMhm. Your favorite. Red velvet pancakes.â He watched her light up, sitting up and looking down at him excitedly. âI guess I sort of like you or whatever.â He sighed, acting like he was annoyed when he was anything but.
âGuess I have to get up.â She yawned, pulling at her white tank top and pink sweatpants covered in a outlined-lightbulb pattern to fit her body comfortably, rolling her shoulders. âIâll be out in a second, yeah?â She leaned down, pressing her lips gently to his for a few seconds before separating, heading towards their shared closet.
SMG3 sighed happily, slipping out from the bed before he walked behind her, giving her hips a playful squeeze while she leaned over to grab something, taking the opportunity to give her another kiss on the lips.
âMhm.â He hummed, his eyes crinkling slightly. âYou take all the time you need to look pretty. Just know I always find you beautiful.â He complimented, causing Hexsy to giggle, a warmth spreading over the skin in her honey sand colored cheeks.
âI know.â She rolled her eyes playfully, watching SMG3 sway away from the bedroom and into the kitchen. She made quick work to look decent, keeping on the sweatpants. SMG3 casually waited beside the stovetop.
The earlier moments replayed in his head, causing him to softly giggle and sigh, fully entranced in thought and in extension, his lover. In his daze, he didnât notice that Hexsy had gotten done changing until she rested her hands on either side of him, nuzzling her head into his neck.
âQuerido.â She buzzed, her ring light tail wrapping around him and causing him to grunt in surprise. His face went warm at her voice calling him the pet name, especially since it was in her native tongue. âWere you zoned out?â
âMy mind canât help but think of you, honey.â He tilted his head back, a tinge of genuineness in his ruby eyes. If he could choose to only think of her, heâd choose her in a heartbeat.
âAre you always this sappy, or are you trying to get me on your good side because you did something wrong?â She teased, shaking her head before he let out a snort.Â
âMe? Doing wrong? Never.â He put a hand to his chest in a mockingly offended gesture. âCan't a guy be sappy with his girlfriend? Gosh. You only know I'm sappy with you.â He wrapped her arms around his shoulders, squeezing her forearms before pulling away and walking towards the booth table in the cafĂ©.
Hexsy moved in suit with him towards the table with a view of the early morning sun as he set the plate of pancakes down in front of her. She licked her lips, the smell wafting up to her nostrils and making her buzz with excitement.
Three didnât waste any time digging into his bacon and eggs, ravaging at the food like it was his last meal. Hexsy took her time, popping the soft pancakes into her mouth and feeling the cream cheese melt in with the flavor.
âYou did such a good job on these, Three. I may have to ask you to make them more often.â She wiggled her eyebrows, causing him to let out a bark of laughter. He blissfully sat back in his chair, acting like he was thinking about her response.
âI dunno. I donât think I can make these for you every day.â He trailed off, acting like he was hesitating before Hexsy scoffed, raising an eyebrow.
âUh-huh?â She dragged out sarcastically, obviously calling him out for his hesitation. She smiled, her canines slightly peeking out into the show of teeth, making him weak in the knees. She looked so damn cute when she smiled and her fangs just ever so slightly peaked out. It made him fold every single time.
âOh, who am I kidding? Iâd make you these for every meal.â He pretended to act defeated, pressing his calloused hand to his temple and leaning on it, giving her a lazy grin.
âThatâs what I thought.â Hexsy tilted her hooked nose to the ceiling, acting snobbish and bratty before breaking character with a hum of satisfaction as she took another bite of her food. âSo whatâs the game plan for today, baby?â
He leaned back in his chair, thoughtfully rubbing his chin before he leaned forward, his neutral expression with an impish grin charming with his demeanor. âI have things planned. All by myself. Your role is simple. Just be my partner while I treat you to the best Valentineâs day ever.â He watched her expression as she managed to get through two of the four pancakes, slamming down some orange juice.
âSounds like a plan.â Her heterochromatic eyes glittered, going back to eating, a comforting silence washing over the both of them. For around twenty minutes, they let themselves eat quietly, Hexsy finishing her dish first and placing it into the sink.
Three followed soon after, putting his dish in the sink before he stood on his tippy toes, kissing Hexsy on the cheek. âStay here, Iâm gonna go get changed.â With that, he slipped away from Hexsy reluctantly, going into their bedroom to change into his signature outfit with a little difference.
Hexsy silently waited at the table, tapping at the table with one hand and using her phone with her other hand. When SMG3 came back out, he was dressed in his usual outfit. Black overalls, spiked shoes, white gloves, all were the same except for his shirt.Â
Instead of his royal purple sweater, he donned a purple button-up, the top two buttons undone and revealing some of his chest hair. The sleeves to his shirt were rolled up to his elbows, showing off his built and hairy arms.
Hexsy practically froze in place, her face going bright red. Man, did she love when he felt confident in his body. SMG3 gave a proud smirk, wiggling his eyebrows. âWhaddya say, Hex? You think I look good?â He folded his arms behind his head, striking a pose that earned a laugh from her.
âBetter than good. You look fantastic.â She shook her head playfully, crossing her arms over her chest before SMG3 situated himself to her side, her arms falling limp to her sides.
He gave her a quiet glance, walking out of the cafĂ© with her only a few feet behind him. He held his hand out, easily manifesting a portal due to his meme guardian powers. The rim was red, the texture glazed over like a frame of glass.Â
âAre you ready for the day I have planned?â He challenged, holding his hand out in offer, not having to wait long for the empty space to be filled. Hexsy's hand clasped over his. His smirk widened slightly at the instantaneous contact. âI'll take that as a yes. Hold on.â
Suddenly, he threw the both of them into the portal, time slowing as the world around them changed locations. Before she could admire the view or confuse herself, SMG3 stepped out of the portal, revealing themselves to be in front of a large arcade.
âI don't ever think I'll ever get used to those portals.â She wobbled slightly before regaining her footing, putting her arms out to the side to center her point of balance. Once she stabilized herself, she looked towards the building in front of them.
âAn arcade, huh?â Hexsy raised an eyebrow, her ring light tail switched to a slight yellow, showing off her curiosity at the choice of location. âWhy an arcade?â She asked with a tone of intrigue rather than malice.
âWell, this one has a bunch of activities. Bowling, games, skating, laser tag, the works.â He began to list off, shifting his grip from her hand to loosely wrap around her waist. âI thought it'd be fun if we could have a day where we mess around.â When he looked at her face, his confident demeanor dropped slightly, showing off a hint of his vulnerability.
âI hope you like it⊠we can always go somewhere else if this isnât your style.â He silently reassured her before Hex slipped her hand under his cap, ruffling his hair.
âOh no, I think this is a great location. All that matters to me is if I have my sweetheart.â She leaned down, kissing his forehead and allowing Three to lean into her, a dopey grin on his expression.
âGood. Because I didn't have a backup plan if you didn't like this.â He joked, a hint of truth behind his sentence, making Hexsy giggle. âWhat do you wanna do first?â
Hexsy turned around, glancing between the arcade, the bowling lanes, and the skating rink. In her head, she narrowed down what she wanted to do before she turned to Three once more. âI wanna go skating.â
âSounds like a plan. I think I remember your size, I'll go rent us a pair of rollerskates.â He smiled, walking over to the rental desk, chatting with the person behind it as she found them a seat.Â
Satisfied with her choice, She slid her hot pink jacket off, revealing her lean and honey-sand colored arms, the skin of her forearm covered by a black glove that went to her elbow to most of her fingers, the pointer and thumb being the only fingers without a cover on them.
She sat down at the table, the 1990-esque vibe of the floors and rink illuminated in the low light. She kicked her feet in an idle motion, the soles of her boots lightly tapping against the metal bar of the chair occasionally. Her ring light tail went from a muted yellow to a bright yellow-orange.
Unknowingly, Three had snuck up behind her, placing the skates under the chair before grasping her shoulders. She yelled, instantly turning and being greeted by Three's face of amusement.
âOh, that was very funny, Three.â She sarcastically chuckled, rolling her heterochromatic eyes as he backed up, setting the roller skates by her side.
âI know you loved it.â He scoffed, backing away from her and sitting on the ground and setting his skates beside him.
âYou wish.â She shook her head before she easily spun around, sliding her boots off and the roller skates on. Three did the same, setting his shoes under the chair she was sitting on.
Besides the cheesy 90's music playing in the background, there was a sense of peace between them. Hexsy managed to lace up her skates, sitting up while gripping onto the table for stability.Â
She looked down at Three to notice him getting ready to stand up, reaching a hand out to him. âNeed a little help?â She asked him smugly, grasping his hand and lifting him off the ground, half tempted to make him spin but refraining.
âMy hero.â SMG3 fluttered his eyelashes before letting out a low chuckle, making Hexsy snort from his actions.
âHow do I even tolerate you sometimes?â She asked in a playfully exasperated tone, watching Three's smirk go to a frown as he playfully shoved her. He stuck his tongue out at her before releasing his grip from her hand.
Hexsy watched SMG3 glide onto the rink, stopping on the outer area to wait for her. She followed suit, carefully gliding over the carpet before stepping down into the rink, quick to be by his side.
âLooks like all that time working at the cafĂ© really paid off, huh?â He teased her, referencing when she was beginning to work as a server at Three's Coffee and Bombs, having to adorn skates for fast and easy service. Hexsy folded her arms behind herself, not admitting he was wrong about the fact that her working under him helped her be better at skating.
He pursed his lips together, his competitive nature kicking in. His ruby eyes filled with a spark. Noticing the lack of conversation, Hexsy turned to him. She briskly stopped, a spark of caution igniting in her gaze before SMG3 took off.
âThree!â She yelled after him, catching up to his pace easily, swerving around the other skaters so as to not cause a collision. When hitting a turn, Three blew a raspberry, mocking Hexsy for not being as fast as he was.
âThree, you're gonna get yourself hurt!â She called out, slowing down as she almost hit a young child, most likely around eight to nine. Once she passed the kid, it was clear Three was way ahead of her, practically half way across the rink.
He suddenly was by Hexsy's side, easing to her speed with a smug grin. âYou just sound like a sore loser right now, Hex.â He mocked, poking her nose before darting off, making her give chase once more.
âYou're gonna seriously hurt yourself!â She sighed, watching his head dart back to give her a challenging look. âThree, slow down!â She clenched her fists at her sides, getting closer to him due to him looking back. However, he didnât stop.
âI'll stop when you pass me!â He taunted, turning his body all the way backwards and not paying attention to his surroundings. His hands were out with the palms out, his teeth glinting in the low light. In his arrogance, he hit the edge of the rink at full speed, causing him to launch backwards.
Hexsy felt her head go in slow motion as she watched him fall. She swiftly darted towards him, lifting him up before he could fall. Without her thinking, she held him in a bridal carry, his body pressed close to hers.
Her skates squealed hard against the floor as she used the brake on the tip of the shoe, bringing them to a direct stop in the middle of the rink. Three was breathing hard, gripping his button-up as he tried to ease his heart rate.
âAre you okay?â She asked softly, causing his eyes to meet hers and soften. His heart beat slowed as he realized she was holding him, finding comfort in her embrace.
âYeah. I'm⊠I'm good. You saved my ass, Hexsy.â He rubbed his neck awkwardly before Hexsy gently set him down. He brushed off his pants nonchalantly, acting like he didn't almost just fall a few moments ago.Â
âI guess I should've listened to your warnings about not doing anything too stupid like going too fast.â He hesitantly admitted, giving a shy smile before Hexsy flipped his cap upwards with a tap.
âThere was also your common sense, but don't let me tell you that.â She raised her eyebrow playfully, causing Three to let out a huff, acting like he was offended by the suggestion.
âWhatever, why don't we just skate?â He brushed her off, chuckling as she took his hand, leading him out of the middle of the rink to the outer area and skating with him. Songs from the 90's and 2000's began to play as the two enjoyed the activity, either one humming or singing the lyrics.
Hexsy's tail swung to the melody as she separated from his hold as the song âOne More Nightâ by Maroon 5 came on, moving smoothly over the rink on her roller skates, getting in the zone as she sang her heart out. Three watched her with a look of admiration, occasionally singing with her.
Without them realizing, two hours has passed. Three was the one who came to the realization when he was taking a picture of the two in the rink, looking at his phone and realizing it was around 10:45 AM.
âGoddamn, sweetheart. We've been going at this for a while. I dunno about you, but I'm kinda craving some arcade games.â He offered, being met with a nod that agreed with his statement.
âIf that's what you're down for, we probably should take our skates off. Don't want to fall flat on your ass before you win big.â She winked.
The two stepped out of the rink, walking towards their table and undoing their skates, briskly slipping on their normal pairs of shoes.
As soon as Hexsy tied her jacket around her waist, they approached the man behind the counter, handing over their skates before stepping towards the arcade. There was a lack of kids at it surprisingly, only a few adults there playing the games.
Three twirled his hand around, revealing two cards for the arcade that were good to go, charged up with twenty dollars each. âYou up to see who can get the most tickets?â He smirked, the same challenging look igniting in her face.
âAlways. But I think we'll know who wins.â Hexsy stated in a confident manner, rolling her shoulders before her tail color went a bright red, showing off her passion and confidence.
With that, the two ran off in either direction, Hexsy going to a stacking game and Three going to a wheel game, the two bouncing and buzzing with excitement.
Within minutes, Hexsy was doing well with herself. She had managed to get a few mini jackpots. Nothing big like five hundred tickets. But around a hundred or two hundred. Meanwhile, Three was⊠he was getting pity tickets. He got twenty if he was lucky, but obviously this wasn't working.
He resists the urge to slam his fist down on the surface of the machine, not wanting to draw attention to the anger brewing in him as his competitiveness flared up. Instead, he walked away from the machine, observing the other games around him.
Three walks around the arcade, trying to find something else to play that wasnât based on luck strictly before he spots Hexsy by a claw machine, struggling to pick up the one she was aiming for. When he took a closer look, he saw it was a large pink dinosaur with lilac spikes and a purple stripe down the middle, most likely a Pachycephalosaurus.
He smirked, pressing against her before he layered his hand on top of hers, stopping her movements and redirecting her attention to him. Hexsy blinked, allowing herself to snap out of her intense focus.
âThat's a cute plush you have there. I thought you wanted to get tickets.â He cooed, raising an eyebrow, watching how Hexsy barely pressed her palm to the glass, staring into the plastic black eyes of the dinosaur.
âWell, I was getting tickets, but look at him.â She pressed her head to the glass, pouting slightly as the soft plush was just out of her reach. âHe's so adorable. I couldn't just keep walking. I wanna take him home.â
Three's expression went from teasing to genuine, noticing how attached she was to the little guy. âYou really want that plush, don't you?â He smiled softly. âWhy don't I try to get this guy for you so you don't waste money? Just keep having your fun.â He leaned over, kissing her neck and making her heart flutter.
âAw, you don't have to, Three.â Hexsy smiled, warmed by the offer of him trying to get the dinosaur for her before he shushed her.
âAh, ah. No buts. You have your fun. This is what I wanna do.â He playfully scolded, his experience of being a dad to Eggdog kicking in, making her jokingly roll her eyes. âLove you.â
âLove you too!â She returned, running off to a throwing game that had those pop-up clowns and the balls, eager to shoot some down. Three snickered at her excitement, swiping his card into the machine and beginning his journey to get the plush for his girlfriend.
As Hexsy swiped her card for the clown game, the carnival music began to play as the balls rolled out of the dispenser, letting her grab them freely to hit the clowns down.Â
She tossed the ball in her hand a few times before she hurled the sphere at the pop-up clowns, hitting one of them square in the face. The clown made a clunk before it went down, another popping up but not for long.
The sweet, satisfying thuds and clunks of the clowns going down echoed through the mostly empty arcade, the frequency of it becoming more evenly spaced between each noise.
She finally threw the last ball, the sounding of the bell going off, signifying the timer had ended. The voice announced she got fifty tickets while she rubbed her shoulders, due to the fact she had put her all into knocking the clowns down.
âWhat a scamâŠâ She muttered under her breath, backing away from the machine before she moved on to one of the stacking games she was previously on, deciding to do a few more games on that one in particular.
Around 20 minutes had passed since she last talked to Three, focused on stacking the model higher and higher. Since she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings, she didn't notice that Three had snuck up behind her until he wrapped his arms around her waist, breaking her from her focus once more and making her lose.
She yelped, her ring light tail that was glowing blue flashing yellow, turning around and spotting Three, a proud expression on his face.Â
âGuess what I gotâŠâ He said in a sing-songy voice, making her turn and cross her arms over her chest before she spotted the dinosaur plush in his hands, gasping.
âYou did not.â She grinned, holding her arms out for the plush which SMG3 gladly handed over. She held it close to her chest, the material soft and cuddly.
âYou best believe I did.â He put his hands on his hips, puffing his chest out, happy that he got her the plush as he saw the glimmer of pure joy in her eyes.
âThree, he looks so adorable! Thank you!â She swung the plush around before she kneeled down, pressing him into a hug, her eyes crinkling in happiness. Three was surprised by the sudden affection, but quickly melted into it.
âHey, you know I'll do anything for ya.â He leaned into her shoulder, mumbling into her ear. She hummed in return, something along the lines of: âI know.â
The two embraced for a moment longer before Hexsy broke the hug, holding the dinosaur close to her by tucking it against her side. âGeez, how long have we been playing games?â She chuckled, watching Three open his phone.
âDunno, lemme check. UhhhâŠâ He squinted before his eyes widened. âOh shit, it's 1:25. We were really going at it.â He snorted.
âYou wanna do anything else here or should we grab some food? I dunno about you, but I am starving.â To show how hungry he was, he patted his chubby stomach. She laughed, feeling the same way.
âEhh, this was fun. But I got my dinosaur plush, so I'm happy.â She flaunted the little guy, taking the card for the arcade and stuffing it into her pocket. âWe can redeem the tickets later, anyways.â
âI feel that, yeah. The smell of grease is getting a little overwhelming.â He tucked his card away in the breast pocket of his overalls. Putting his hands on his hips, he led the two of them out of the arcade, walking down the street and leaning against the wall, opening his phone and pulling up a menu.
âHere, there's this really nice place I found that does takeout. Does any of this food interest you?â He offered his phone to her casually, letting her scroll through a menu before she let out a hum.
âOoh, picanha sounds really good. I'm craving meat right now.â She clicked on the menu item, reading through it before offering the phone back to SMG3. âI think I'll just have some of that. I'm still pretty full on breakfast.â She popped her hip out, watching him as he placed his order.
âMhm.â He acknowledged, confirming their order and getting a notification that heâd be texted when their order was ready. âI know a place we can go while we wait.â
âBy all means, lead me, then.â Hexsy grinned, taking his hand as SMG3 conjured up another portal. In a flash, they were on a vacant beach, a bench looking over the seaside of rocks crashing over waves. Hexsy walked over to it first, hopping onto it and Three followed shortly afterward.
For a moment, the only sound was the waves crashing against the shore, the sun beaming against their skin. Three looked at Hexsy, his eyes filled with admiration for the woman beside him, his fingers intertwining with hers.
âHexsy, since we have a moment of quiet, I wanna finally talk to you. About⊠how I feel about you. About us.â He began slowly, his thumb rubbing over the back of her hand.
âYeah?â Hexsy turned to face him, crossing her legs over one another, her eyes filled with intrigue and curiosity. He had her full attention, her body language attentive as she pulled his hand into her lap, cupping both of her hands over it. âI'm listening.â
He looked down at his hand in her lap, melting as her warmth traveled through him. He felt his heart pounding in his throat before he cleared it, taking a deep breath.Â
âWhen I first met you, I hated you so much because I thought you would replace me, that Four wouldnât want to be friends with me anymore. You were so much more confident, so much more bold, it made me envious. I couldnât see past the fact that you werenât just a carbon copy of me.â Three began slowly, his stomach twisting and turning in nervousness.
âI shouldâve realized way sooner youâre much more of a loser compared to me.â He chuckled, earning a playfully disamused glare from Hexsy, her ring light tail wrapping around his waist.
âFalse. But go off.â Hexsy shook her head but didnât have any further objections, allowing him to continue.
âThat was until we got my notebook back. Getting to work at my coffee shop with you made me realize how much more unique you are. Youâre somewhat like me, but youâre definitely not a carbon copy of me or Four. Youâre your own person. Youâre bold, youâre fiercely passionate about those you care about, youâre caring, youâre a gentle giant.â
At his words, she began to tear up. She didnât expect Three to start laying his emotions down bare and open. Hearing him being so heartfelt was a gift in itself, knowing how hard it was for him to open up in the first place.
âSMG3âŠâ She muttered, pressing herself closer to him.
âI love you, Hexsy. No matter what. No matter the decisions you made. I fucking love you.â He suddenly lunged forward, entangling his fingers into Hexsyâs hair as he slowly kissed her. Emotions of vulnerability, love, passion, and relief all leaked into one kiss. Hexsy froze for a moment before melting into him.
She cupped her hand over his waist, tilting her head to deepen the kiss. The environment around them faded, leaving only the two of them lost in their own little world.
After a minute, he pulled away from Hexsy, his hand quivering in her hair as he stared at her with a spark of commendation in his gaze. âYouâre everything to me. Youâre the best thing to happen to me, and I shouldâve seen that a long time ago.â He pressed their foreheads together, breathless.
She smiled softly in return at his kind words. She slipped on her jacket, rolling up the sleeves to her elbows before she cupped his face into her hands. âYouâre so sweet. Why donât you let yourself be sweet more often?â She questioned, watching Three smirk before he leaned towards her ear, speaking in a conspiratorial whisper.
âIâm a retired villain. I canât have people thinking Iâve gotten too soft, Iâve got a reputation to uphold.â His voice was serious, having that signature brood and calculation in his tone before he snorted.
Hexsy encaptured her hand over his face, pushing him back, tittering. âWhatever! Reputation my ass. You say youâre a villain but youâre certainly not opposed to being the hero when Iâm around.â She raised an eyebrow, the cord to her ring light tail wagging slightly due to her shenanigans.
âAnti-hero.â SMG3 said with a mirth, pretending to snidely correct her. His arms crossed over one another, puffing his chest out. However, he instantly dropped the miserable show of dominance at the raise of her eyebrow that questioned his seriousness and challenged him at the same time.
She dropped her hand from his face, resting it in the pocket of her jacket. Her eyes drifted over to the ocean in front of them. Her feet dangled, kicking the air before speaking.
âYou know, I donât blame you. But I was so mad at you for treating me like shit. I thought I had said something wrong, or that I hurt you by accident. And being mistreated with no cause for reason, while having my home threatened made me a little agitated.â She pressed her hands to each side of herself.
âIt wasnât until I got your notebook back with you, I could see your attitude shift. You were definitely kinder and tolerant, even if you deny it.â She smirked for a moment, the smile lowering after a moment. âBeside all your jabs, I know your opinion on me has changed, and so has mine.â
âYouâre a down to earth guy, youâre fiercely protective, youâre deep. Youâre nothing like SMG4, donât ever think youâre just his shadow. Youâre SMG3. Youâre your own person. And youâre my partner.â She leaned against his shoulder, staring into his ruby eyes.
His breath hitched, his fingers squeezing together. He didnât know he needed to hear that, but he did. He gulped, finding himself at a loss for words. His eyes teared up before he blinked, trying to hold back from crying due to the strong wave of emotions crashing through him.
Before he could push himself to say something, his phone went off with a dog bark, seeming to be his notification sound. He quickly snapped out of his emotional daze, pulling his phone out from his pocket.
It was a notification from the restaurant the two of them had ordered from. Their food was done. Three wiped his eyes, sliding his phone back into his pocket.Â
âWell, we better get it while itâs still hot. Why donât I teleport ya back to the Showgrounds? You look like youâre sick of fast traveling.â He nudged her, noticing how she looked a little dizzy. Hexsy nodded in agreement.
âThat sounds nice.â She stood up from the bench, two portals forming on each side of it. She gave Three a look over her shoulder. After they met each otherâs gaze, they stood in place for a few seconds before they both walked through their portals.
Hexsy found herself in front of Threeâs Coffee and Bombs, her legs wobbly before she got a grasp on her balance, her palms facing out as her vision swirled around her, easing into one singular focus rather than multiple blurred lines.
She began striding towards the door, slipping inside before she felt nudging against her leg. She tilted her head down, finding Eggdog circling around her, his tail wagging fast. âWhat do you think youâre doing there, Eggy?â She chuckled, running her fingers through Eggdogâs soft fur.
Eggdog barked happily, jumping up into Hexsyâs arms. She happily held the pomeranian close, his head nudging against Hexsyâs chin. She nuzzled her head against him.
Eggdog gave her a few licks before hopping back down on the ground, tugging at the cuff of her pants before skittering across the hardwood floor, obviously in an energetic mood and wanting to play.
Hexsy got into a crouch position, her tail coiling against her back. She lunged forward, causing Eggdog to dash through her legs and go back through, zooming around the area, trying to release his excess energy.
She chased Eggdog around, the dog barking as the two played. Eggdog ran for a squeaky toy, bounding towards it before dropping it in front of Hexsy, doing little spins of excitement.
âYou want me to throw your toy, little guy?â She spoke in an energetic tone, squeezing the toy and making it squeak. Eggdog barked, communicating that it was exactly what he wanted.
She winded her shoulder back, twirling the toy in her fingers before she launched her arm forward, the toy landing under one of the stools to the countertop where the coffee machine was located. Eggdog sprinted to the seat, skidding to a stop as he tilted his head to get a good grip on the toy.
Once he did, he ran back to Hexsy. She kneeled down on the ground in return, grabbing the toy and lightly tugging. Eggdog growled, his tail dropping as he focused on keeping his hold on the toy.
âThis is my toy. Give it.â She spoke deeply, her eyebrows furrowed in concentration, being met with a low growl on Eggdogâs end. âDrop it.â She commanded, her voice pitching up slightly to coerce him into dropping it.
After getting the toy once more, she threw it. She watched as Eggdog fetched it, squeaking it a few times before bounding towards her again. She giggled, ruffling his fur. âYouâre a good boy, arenât you? Yes, you are!â She praised him, getting the toy and throwing it.
During her play session with Eggdog, she hadnât noticed Three had made a portal and walked through the door, approaching behind her. He placed the food on the table closest to the door, sneaking behind her.
Three wrapped his arms tightly around Hexsyâs waist, causing her to yelp. Her tail straightened out before she turned around. Noticing it was SMG3, she relaxed. âGod, Three. You scared me.â
âSorry, baby. I got the food.â He offered an apology with one of his signature grins, making her roll her eyes in a joking manner.
â...youâre forgiven. For now.â She huffed before giggling, leaning down before kissing his cheek. He hummed almost similar to a cat purr, holding her head in place when she went to go separate.
âAh, ah. Youâre not done.â He quietly told her, his voice dipping lower as he teased her. Behind the command, Hexsy could see past the facade and see that he was being clingy.
She picked him up with ease, spinning him around before peppering his face and neck in kisses. He laughed, wrapping his arms around her neck, grinning widely. After a bombardment of affection, she set him down.
Noticing Three was home, Eggdog got excited. Eggdog ran towards SMG3 and jumped up on his leg. He smiled, kneeling down and feeling the pomeranian lick his skin so much it felt like it went raw.
âAlright, alright Eggy! Iâm taking it that you missed me, huh?â He scratched the fur under Eggdogâs collar, watching him lean into his touch, nudging his hand when he stopped.
Eggdog whined, giving Three and Hexsy puppy eyes, begging for attention from the both of them. Three looked up towards Hexsy, picking up the dog. âI think Eggdog wants us to give him some very well needed love. How bout we spend the rest of the day watching some Arcane?â
At the offer, Hexsyâs tail wagged. âOh hell yeah! Iâve been meaning to watch the new season for a while now!â Her smile widened. âIâll go get the food. How about you prepare some drinks and popcorn?â
SMG3 nodded, running to the kitchen and making some buttered popcorn. Meanwhile, Hexsy set the food down at the end of the bed, opening her box of picanha. She took one of the four sticks of picanha, beginning to slide the meat off of the stick into her mouth. She hummed, loving the taste as the spices enhanced the flavor of it.
SMG3 came in a few minutes later, setting the popcorn down to the side and the drinks by the bedside table. He popped down beside her, Eggdog following suit and curling beside him.
Hexsy snuggled in beside Three, tucking herself under the sheets, her body pressing to his, trying to steal his warmth. Three noticed this, smirking knowingly. âWhat am I? Am I just your personal heater?â
âYeah.â Hexsy returned smugly, the cord of her ring light tail curling into a heart for a moment. âYouâve got all of that heat and youâre saying you donât want to share? How selfish, and on Valentineâs day too?â She pouted, giving SMG3 a puppy dog look.
âLike hell Iâm selfish. Get over here, dork.â He pulled Hexsy tight to him, giving a smug look to her.
âHehehe. Iâm your dork, though.â She emphasized, raising her eyebrows before pressing her head to his chest. He pulled his food down from the end of the bed, opening the takeout box before consuming his Italian food.
Three lowered the lights in his room to a dark purple, turning on the television and flicking to Netflix. He found Arcane and clicked on it, starting it from season one. The room was quiet for about ten minutes before Three spoke.
âHey.â He softly called, grasping her attention. âDid you enjoy today? Did you feel special?â He asked, wanting her input to know if he needed to do even more if today wasnât satisfactory to her.
âI loved today. Thank you for taking me for a wonderful Valentineâs day. I couldnât ask for anything else. Hell, you couldâve taken me to the park and I wouldâve loved it since I was spending my time with you.â She spoke genuinely, grasping another stick of the meat from her takeout box, chowing down on it.
Three felt his shoulders relax, rubbing his hand up and down her side. âThatâs good, sweetheart. I wanted you to feel like you were the number one person in the world. Because youâre my number one person.â
The two gave each other a goofy grin, meeting their lips in a quick peck.
âI love you, Hexsy.â
âI love you too, SMG3.â
