Hexagon quilt update: I had to move furniture to lay it out and stand on a chair to get it all in one shot. Currently in 6 horizontal strips, which will be joined together and filled in with half-hexies around the edges. Looks like the finished size will be around 80x90”.

it’s DONE!!! Coming in at just under 80x90 inches, this turned out to be a monster of a project. I started it at the beginning of April, made all 1,936 hexies during shelter-in-place, and finished putting it together over the last month during quiet days at the shop. There are over a hundred different fabrics represented, vintage and new, with some only appearing on a single hexie. I think it might need to hibernate for a while before I try quilting it. (yes, I do have another EPP project I want to start.)

Hexagon quilt progress: Not quite a quilt top yet, but I have enough 8x8 blocks to lay them out and get a sense of what to expect when it’s done.

Hexagon quilt update! This might not look too different from the last one, but I have now basted all 1,920 hexies that are going into this quilt. Sewing them into blocks is going to take a while longer. #hexiesforsanity #hexagonquilt #handsewing

Now that I’ve got some bigger sections done, here’s what the back looks like. I take the papers out once they’re surrounded on all sides, which makes sewing the big pieces together a lot easier.

Hexagon quilt progress: 104 4x4 blocks, and 4 8x8s. Getting from 2x4s to here went faster than I expected!
