I've made a decision... I'm going to start posting snippets of the "Hey, Remus!" remake here.
It's hard for me to post it here since Tumblr is a bit judgemental, but I'll try to keep posting.
Wish me luck 🩷

The Ship Which Must Not Be Named: A Lighthearted Reality Check
Let’s talk about that ship. You know the one. The one that rhymes with Smolfscar. The one whose fans accuse you of crimes against literature if you dare ship anything else. The one that erases canon and basic personality traits faster than you can say "full moon."
Let’s break it down with a little peace, a little humour, and a dash of canon-based clarity.
☕ Toxicity Level: Azkaban With No Trial
Sirius Black, everyone’s favorite brooding biker uncle, once:
• Wished for a full moon (aka wished Remus would transform into a deadly monster) out of boredom.
• Deliberately led Snape to Remus during a full moon, risking Snape’s life, Remus’ secret, and Remus’ freedom (and probably life too — remember what they did to Buckbeak for much less?)
• Didn't even show regret year later.
• Left Remus absolutely nothing in his will, even though he knew Remus was living in extreme poverty, unable to find work due to anti-werewolf laws. But sure... soulmates, right?
Let’s not forget the cherry on top:
Sirius didn’t trust Remus. He thought Remus was the traitor in the First War. He literally convinced James and Lily to trust Peter Pettigrew instead.
That’s not love. That’s emotional negligence with a leather jacket.
“But It’s Just Fanon!”
Exactly! And fanon is awesome… when it knows it's fanon. The problem is when some people treat it like gospel, and worse, weaponize it.
Remus Lupin is not a sweater-wrapped background extra waiting to be scooped up by Sirius. He’s a war-scarred, deeply moral man who believes he doesn’t deserve happiness, but fights for others' anyway.
And Tonks? Not a villain. Not a beard. Not an obstacle. She’s his canon partner who chose him, loved him, and died beside him. They had a son, Teddy.
A Note on Actor Harassment
It’s one thing to ship fanon. It’s another to:
• Twist David Thewlis’ words to pretend he and Gary Oldman thought they were playing lovers (They didn’t);
• Ignore that Alfonso Cuarón told Thewlis to play Remus as a "gay junkie" (his words; not confirmation of Wolfstar, just a strange director choice);
• Harass actors online for not supporting a headcanon or refusing to talk about “your ship.”
Actors aren’t your fanfic beta readers. They’re people doing their job. Please stop making them regret it.
Also: I Have My Own Ship!
I ship Remus with my original character, Mary Scamander (aka Maria), and in my very personal opinion? She works better than Tonks.
BUT! That doesn’t mean I bash Remadora. Or Tonks. Because you can love your own ship without incinerating canon like it’s a Horcrux.
A Peace Offering
Ship what you love. Write what makes you happy. Just don’t:
• Harass people who prefer canon;
• Accuse people of being bigots for liking Remadora or OC pairings;
• Pretend ATYD is a canon prequel;
• Call the actual canon "enemy territory."
Most of us - Canon and fanom lovers - love Remus Lupin. Let’s act like we do.
- A tired Lupin Lover who just wants peace, nuance, and fanfiction that doesn't erase character arcs.
With kindness, canon, and exactly 0 werewolf-baiting pranks,
M.
I just found out there is a band called "the whomping willows" and oh my freaking god they have songs based on Harry Potter and the Marauders and on ships that are fanon like wolfstar and oh my goooood i freaking out right now
I just listened to "hey Remus" and if i'd be alone at home right niw I WOULD SCREAM ON TOP OF MY LUNGS
LISTEN TO "THE WHOMPING WILLOWS" RIGHT NOW GUYS
(And now that I finally decided to start publishing the new version of “Hey, Remus!” I’m writing, I just got a comment on the old version. So now I’ll have two versions online🤦🏽♀️ Me and my great timing!)
Hey, Remus! [remake]
Chapter 2 (snippet)
Remus sighed, his heart sinking. Of course. There it was. The fear. She was scared of him. He was used to that look. He had seen looks of fear all his life. And yet... that one was a bit... off.
"Don't be scared." He started. "I won't hurt you."
"Oh, I know that." She answered, waving her hand as if to tell him not to worry. But her reaction made him even more confused.
"You... you know?"
"Of course." She said with a hint of impatience in her voice. "I know you."
Of course. She knew him. But how? He didn't ask though. He didn't think it was a good time for it. Instead, he tried:
"Why are you so scared then?"
She looked at him for a short moment and sighed, her shoulders falling.
"Because if this is not a dream... that means I lost it. I'm finally mad. My hyperfixation turned into some kind of maladaptive daydreaming, and it's become so severe that I actually feel like I'm in a fictional universe talking to a fictional character. Or maybe I'm having a nervous breakdown. Or maybe this is mental exhaustion. Or an emotional burnout. Or..."
"Or magic." Remus added simply.

Trying to get back to writing
I started re-writing my fanfic “Hey, Remus!” from scratch. Yes. You read it right. From absolute scratch. I decided it would include a lot more canon events and be way shorter, so it’s easier to read and my ADHD doesn’t let me down (I have so many incomplete WIP your couldn’t even dream of! )
The first chapter is 6 handwritten A5 pages long to this point, but it will definitely be shorter than the first version. I think 🤣
This time, I’m already writing it directly in English so that I don’t have to translate it again. It takes too much time and the risk of not finishing it would be bigger.
I still write by hand because I don’t like writing long texts on my phone and I can’t take my computer everywhere. It would be even less risky to write it directly on the computer, I know, but I just can’t do it.😢
I’ll also skip most descriptions, so it doesn’t become boring. I actually added so many descriptions to my most recent fanfics (“Hey, Remus!” included) because I wanted to make it longer, since people had told me that no one reads short chapters nowadays.
But you know what? I don’t care anymore. If you don’t want to read it, you don’t need to . This fanfic is already incredibly out of every trend. I would say it’s out of fashion, since my writing style is not very different from the one I had in 2004/5. Save from the maturity, of course.😅
Let’s hope I can be able to go all the way to the end and include everything I want.
Please, cross your fingers 🤞
Ps - Don’t mind my handwriting, I know it’s awful 😫
Remus Lupin and Mary Scamander from my fanfics 😁
Finally a drawing that I can say it’s not bad at all. But I’m still learning and I’ll keep trying, I promise 💖
Sharing my recent fanfics with you
The first Remus fanfics I wrote were in 2005 (yep, fandom dinosaur here!🫣🦖) in Brazilian Portuguese. But more than a year ago, I decided to to write new one, translate them to English and post them on AO3 and Wattpad.
So, without further ado, here they are (sorted from the most recent to the first one I wrote in the last year), mostly Remus/OC, but some Remadora too.
Hey, Remus!
Genre: Romcom with some angst
Warnings: Metafiction, Canon Fix-it
Pair: Remus Lupin/OC
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/61913671
Summary: Maria is just your average adult Potterhead, writing Remus Lupin fanfiction to cope with life (and ADHD, honestly).
Until 2025, when life says “plot twist!” and drops her straight into the actual Order of the Phoenix.
Turns out, Remus thinks she’s fictional too.
To blend in, she borrows the name Mary Scamander from her own OC and tries to survive in a world she thought she only knew from books.
A romantic dramedy where Remus Lupin finally gets to be some happiness, and a love letter to everyone who’s ever fallen for a fictional character or dreamed of living in their favourite story.
Bring Me To Life
Genre: Angst
Pair: Remus Lupin/Nymphadora Tonks, Remus Lupin/OC
Warnings: Graphic violence, death of major characters, Canon compliant with some twists, Canon fix-it
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/61306342
Summary: Remus Lupin survives the war-but barely. With Tonks gone and a newborn in his arms, he's thrust into a world that feels unfamiliar and broken. St. Mungo's offers him help in the form of Mary Scamander, a mind-healer with scars of her own.
Through therapy sessions and memories that hurt to touch, Remus begins to face everything he's spent a lifetime running from: betrayal, grief, survival-and the terrifying idea that he might deserve to heal.
Far From the Shallow
Genre: Romcom
Pair: Remus Lupin/OC, minor Remus Lupin/Nymphadora Tonks
Warnings: Canon fix-it
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/60571618
Summary: Remus Lupin survived a war, raised a son, and went back to teaching. He wasn't planning to fall in love again-especially not with his new best friend.
Mary Scamander is brilliant, warm, and just chaotic enough to keep him on his toes. But grief is complicated, and feelings are messy.
Luckily, Teddy has a plan. Or many.
(Unfortunately, most of them are disasters.)
War In Shades of Pink
Genre: Romance
Pair: Remus Lupin/Nymphadora Tonks
Warnings: Canon compliant, Canon fix-it
Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/59419303
Summary: Remus Lupin had never allowed himself to love. He couldn't. His lycanthropy was a danger to anyone who got too close. But Nymphadora Tonks didn't care. And, seeing the love was mutual, she refused to accept no for an answer. In times of war, where everyone is out of their minds, in a world of death, sorrow, and darkness, Tonks brought a little colour into Lupin's world.
I just wanted to say a quiet thank you…
My fic "Hey, Remus!" (aka "Hey, Remus! – Between the Pages of Our Worlds") has officially been completed for a little over a month now, and I’ve been overwhelmed (in the best way) by how warmly it’s been received.
I know it’s not the usual kind of fanfic that makes waves:
• No mainstream ships;
• Features Remus with an OC (who’s also the main character);
• Romantic comedy vibes;
• Grown-up characters, not teen drama;
• 165,653 words;
And still, despite all that…
On AO3:
• 2,781 hits;
• 40 kudos;
• 13 bookmarks;
On Wattpad:
• 3,893 views;
• 195 votes;
I know those aren’t record-breaking numbers, but for a rarepair/OC fic? I’m genuinely touched. Some of you have even commented with the kindest words, and I’ve read them all with a huge smile on my face.
Thank you for giving a quiet little story like this a chance. And if you’ve read it, loved it, shared it, or even just clicked out of curiosity… I see you, and I appreciate you.
Volume 2 ("Hey, Remus – A Very Lupin Tale") is currently in the works and being posted chapter by chapter. I hope you’ll continue this journey with me and Remus.
