In personal finance a few months ago, we were going over bellwork, and the question was, “What is a hidden cost of Thanksgiving?” cuz Thanksgiving was coming up and my teacher is like that. So he asked a classmate and this kid answered, “Losing more and more love for my family,” and my teacher just said, “Very good,” and called on another kid.

“Americans go through 35 billion plastic bottles each year. Four in five of these bottles don’t get recycled, choking up U.S. landfills or rivers. This is bad news for our waterlife and wildlife because many of these bottles contain traces of harmful xenoestrogens like BPA. Like other inorganic hormones, BPA compounds in fat cells and is never fully flushed out of our bodies. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) even banned this chemical from baby bottles and sippy cups last summer after dozens of studies linked long-term exposure to increased risks for certain cancers and birth defects.”

Less talked about costs of climate change:

Due to warmer weather insects are able to live in areas they weren’t able to. The big examples that come to mind as dangerous first would be mosquitoes, ticks and fleas.

These insects are spreading dangerous and deadly diseases that can be costly to treat.

Mosquitoes

For humans this includes Zika virus spread by mosquitoes. Zika virus is a risk for anyone wanting to bear a child because it can cause birth defects.

For pets this includes heart worms, also spread by mosquitoes. Heart worms can literally stop a heart by clogging it if you don’t catch it in time!

You might be wondering what the hidden cost will be? 1) False Positives – The salesperson by seeing the sheer number of prospects in their funnel gets overconfident that they have so many prospects. This leads us to think that we have send so many proposals. This leads us to think that we have done an awesome job. We begin thinking about how hard it is for us to close a few deals from the multiple proposals we have sent. We tend to believe that we can hit our quota and we may end up not prospecting and fill the top of the funnel for hte period..However, we might not even realize sending proposals to unqualified buyers. .

You will have to compete with Big, Medium, Small, Niche and many more types of competitors. Each one of those will have one unique advantage.
