Imaginary
In my field of paper flowers

Harry burst out laughing, the sound mixing with the loud chatter as more people entered the pub.
“I knew you'd say that! It's just too easy to get you riled up, isn't it?” Harry took another sip of his beer, cleaning a little foam off his upper lip
“Why do you like to piss me off so much?” Louis said, rubbing his closed eyes with the tip of his fingers. He didn't feel as angry as he looked, but apparently he had a reputation to keep.
“Believe me, the only time I did it on purpose was just now. Hey, is this going to be our dynamic forever? I come here, you snap at me for no reason at all, throw me out and I come back? It's getting pretty predictable.”
“Why do you keep coming back, exactly?” Louis said, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
“I like your pretty face. And Niall has sick jokes. The beer is fine, too."
OR the one where Louis owns a pub and Harry is a photographer who needs his help for a project. Louis is grumpy, Harry is not. Louis has a secret. There is some pining and a lot of fluff.

2. Biodiversity
So I've been having a good long think about biodiversity. Really since I first started volunteering with the Hidden Gardens last spring. Once of the pieces of information given to volunteers at the gardens is a copy of the Hidden Gardens Local Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP), a set of seven postcards forming a small book, and this document was really my introduction to the word biodiversity, and it's been an inspiration. Create or preserve environments to encourage many different species into the space, in some kind of balance with each other ideally. I suppose that for a while now, I've felt that humans are at the centre of the worldwide problem of a lack of biodiversity; I'm a vegan, and I've been aware of the outcomes of clearing virgin rainforest to graze animals on or to grow animal feed; of slurry run off from farms polluting waterways and wiping out habitats in the UK. And of humans either intentionally or accidentally introducing new species to areas where they had never been been before, like New Zealand flatworms in the UK; and how invasive a new species well suited to a new environment can be, to the detriment of species in a balance there before it. And then there's the problem of land management programs which favour a species for 'sport', like grouse, and the way this spells death for many other species in the space, and impacts even further afield, in the form of different rain water drainage patterns. None of these human activities is good, and agriculture is almost always definitely bad. Monocultures/pesticides/herbicides. It's a mess, and humans are at the centre of it. But humans are an animal species too. Where is our place within biodiversity? Do we have a collective place within biodiversity, or is it now the case that some of us are always ameliorating against the detrimental actions of others? And will it be enough? I don't know the answer to these questions yet. Humans can be so selfish and boisterous, with endless stories of committing harm to existing biodiversity. They feel like the enemy. But maybe, ultimately because of their numbers and intelligence, they are the only ally too, capable of challenging potential harm to biodiversity, or righting wrongs done to biodiversity. Organizations like the Hidden Gardens, and the John Muir Trust give me hope. Some other things I'd like to read on this topic:

The Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004 made it a duty that public bodies further the conservation of biodiversity. Subsequent legislation, the Wildlife and Natural Environment (Scotland) Act 2011 also required public bodies to publish a report every three years on the actions taken to meet their biodiversity duty.
