Kaneki would probably have something normal for Hide to start with, like a customized ring. He’d be embarrassed by anything else. Maybe a happy beeping tune or something. But then when he got more comfortable/more in love/more tooth-rottingly cheesy he’d change it to something like ‘You are my Sunshine’ or ‘Sunshine’ by Gabrielle. Or, if we’re going to be accurate and choose Japanese songs, ‘Watashi no Taiyou’ by Kokia.
Kaneki expects Hide to put a joking or embarassing ring for him but it’s something surprisingly heartfelt. For Kaneki I think Hide might have something like ‘King and Lionheart’ by of Monsters and Men, or maybe ‘Kimi wo Mamotte, Kimi wo Aishite’ by Sambomaster.
Their FB relationship status
It’s pretty straight forward. They both set it to ‘in a relationship’, but then Kaneki gets a bit embarassed and panicked and wonders if being out like that could affect Hide’s job at the CCG so he changes it back to single. which makes Hide change it to ‘It’s complicated’ and play it off as just them playing around. Eventually Kaneki becomes comfortable enough to have them both have ‘in a relationship’ as their status.
Whether they are addicted to couples selfies
Hide loooooves couples selfies. He loves taking them everywhere. At the coffee shop, at school, on sidewalks, in stores, everywhere. But he doesn’t actually post them anywhere. He just keeps them on his phone and sends them to Kaneki and stares at them in class when he’s bored. Kaneki doesn’t like taking them, but he likes looking at them and never deletes a single one that Hide sends him.
Which of their friends is over-joyed shipper trash that they are together
Lol do they have any friends other than each other pre-ghoul shenanigans? On the chance they’re able to maintain their relationship post-ghoul shenanigans and tragedy is minimal, Hinami, Yoriko, and Enji, for some reason, think they are adorable and are super glad they’re together.
Who overshares intimate relationship details
Hide pretends to overshare intimate details, when he’s teasing Kaneki, but never actually says anything true. He’ll be like ‘Touka-chan, did you know this guy likes to hand-feed me chocolate to get me in the mood?’ ‘HIDE THAT IS NOT TRUE’.
Kaneki accidentally tmis all the time though. Especially with poor Touka, once they’ve become good friends. He’ll accidentally say something like ‘I know he’s brash and loud in the shop, but his hands are so gentle when we-’ ‘SHUT UP KANEKI I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT’ ‘OMG I didn’t mean to- I didn’t realize what I was saying- Please don’t tell Hide-!’
Who steals the other’s clothes
I imagine, living by himself, Kaneki’s on a bit of a budget. So Hide never steals his clothes. But he’ll lend Kaneki stuff all the time. Kaneki never asks for it though. Except post-ghoul, Kaneki starts to actively steal Hide’s clothes because he loves being surrounded by his scent.
Who’s the PDA fan
Neither. Kaneki’s not comfortable with it so Hide won’t do anything more than holding his hand and kissing his cheek.
Post-ghoul, however, specifically post Aogiri Arc, Kaneki will have random bouts of affection and gratitude that Hide is still with him and super protectiveness and will just smother him with kisses and soft touches no matter where the hell they are.
Who proposes
Hide wants to, but he’s also always hyper aware of not pushing Kaneki too much, or farther than he’s comfortable with. He figures he can wait until they’re in their late twenties or something. Surprisingly, it’s Kaneki who proposes, much sooner then Hide thought he’d be comfortable with.
To be completely clear, Kaneki tries to propose no less than ten times, chickening out every time, until finally Touka snatches the ring and proposes to Hide for him.
