I remember being really surprised there wasn’t tons of Raiden/Vamp to be had way back when I played 2 for the first time.

friendship them with:  Fortune, I mean, who else will put up with him?

general opinions: Actually my brother got me to play MGS by telling me at some point a vampire shows up and I was really confused because MGS looks like a Tom Clancy novel, so I gave it a shot. So I basically have Vamp to thank for getting me into this ridiculous series.

As with most characters in the series 4 kind of dropped what could have interesting about him. I was kind of waiting for Vamp to be a temporary ally because he’s got every reason to hate the Patriots - which would have led to some fantastic angst and fighting with Snake/Otacon because he killed Emma - but instead nanomachines and no mention I can remember of Fortune or Scott or Jackson AKA the people he cared about and was trying to avenge/protect in 2.

He probably could have been friends with Fortune in some alternate universe, but unfortunately, plot.

general opinions: Raiden is a great character and victim of some really obnoxious fandom backlash.

I'm still annoyed at how much the games bought into it. MGS3 had some really unnecessary jabs at him basically because gamers got all mad that Snake wasn't the focus for one damn game and also Raiden is pretty and that's upsetting for some reason.

But yeah MGS2 is wonderfully meta and I love it for that.

In looking up reference I have realized;

In early drafts of MGS2 Fortune was supposed to play saxophone and that should be trait we all just agree she kept even if it wasn't in game

People get really snippy about the existence of Olga's armpit hair and if this drawing wasn't almost done I would change it just to include her hairy pits because fuck off
