ladygray99 replied to your post: A hard day for an introvert
Okay, I finally have a description for myself. Thank you.
You too? I come up with the phrase because I got so tired of repeating, "no, really, honestly, I'm an introvert, I really really am yes it is true ARGH I VANT TO BE ALOOOONE!" I'm not one to invest in labels too much but this one has come in pretty damn handy.
A hard day for an introvert
Today was basically one long festival of meetings. It started in the morning with a long webinar with potential vendors, lunch meeting with current vendors, afternoon departmental office holiday party. I ate sugary stuff which I almost never do and it made me feel horrible.
For the last work hour I basically hid in my office.
I'm actually very social adept; I coined the term "high functioning introvert" because I'm not shy, I'm not socially awkward, and I am quite comfortable engaging with groups of people.
BUT
It's exhausting. Being social is not something that I draw energy from, it is something that drains energy from me.
I made it through, but wow, I think it's time to turn in early tonight. :/
