Medieval cats from The Aberdeen Bestiary, circa 1200.

It’s super-fascinating because, while the faces don’t seem particularly feline to me, these are *clearly* drawn from actual observation - look at those classic kitty postures!

No real meaning behind this one, I’ve just had a growing appreciation for high medieval clothing. It’s not as fitted or shaped as later medieval stuff, but it makes up for that in layers, patterns, and materials. This one was based on 12th century noblewomen’s garb.

Journeys Through Time 4. The Full Plate Armour

Full plate armour, or the equipment a 15th c. knight wore for combat.

I just drew up the pattern for my bliaut gown and I can already tell that these sleeves are going to be the end of me.

Sometimes I think about doing 12th century Get Ready With Me videos/posts. But I feel like the appeal is seeing all the layers of more complex clothing. The 1100s were pretty simple. I'm just not sure that anyone would be interested in seeing someone in a shift putting on their stockings and shoes, a kertle/cotte, maybe a gown, and then calling it a day.
