An interesting take on Divergent
Putting on "The Used" station on Pandora is probably one of the smartest things I've done in my life.
Help!
I know this is kind of a weird request, but if you know anything about me, you know that theatre is my life. Well, I wouldn't be where I am today if it hadn't been for my high school's Theater Guild. I attribute much of my success to this fabulous organization. My alma mater's district is proposing budget cuts that include eliminating the theater technician position. The person who currently holds this position is not only a wonderful friend and mentor of mine, but one of the most talented and passionate theatre professionals I have ever met. The duties of this job include training and supervising student use of heavy machinery and power tools, such as drills, belt sanders, various table saws and more, in addition to training people on the theatre's extensive counterweight rigging system. This position was created in the 1990s when a student was severely injured on the school's rigging system. The institution of this role dramatically reduced many risk factors for not only student injury, but improved he safety of staff, as well as visitors, renters, and patrons of the school's two theater spaces. Anyway, the cuts are being voted on soon, and I just today became aware of a petition against this particular measure. Please join me in signing if you support safety, awareness, and responsibility in performance spaces. I am very lucky to have come from a school district with a stellar reputation in the arts, and it would be sad to see that fall apart due to the district's desire to cut corners when it comes to safety. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/save-pioneer-theater-guild/
