An open grimoire for study, reflection, and practice
Focus: grounding, clarity, structure
When I think of stability and structure, many things come to mind. A home, financial stability, a sturdy foundation to build onto. I think of emotions and reactions and routine. Balance and comfort. Peace.
These are concepts I hadnât even considered growing up. the majority of my earliest years it didnât feel like a realistic possibility. I didnât realize how unstable my life really was until I was exposed to until I was a certain age. Itâs wasnât too long ago that I actually began to think about not only the future, but in a positive light with excitement and gratitude.
For what felt like lifetimes, I was pulled down by darkness to the point of hopelessness wishing for death as a form of mercy to end my torment. The darkness was so overpowering that it felt like the entire world was crumbling beneath my feet.
There are the many avenues at which you can attain the perfect alignment that will guide you exactly where you want to be. Where youâre supposed to be.
We make so many decisions daily. Many are second nature and donât get a second thought because over time repetition carves deeper neural pathways which become the path most taken. The neurons in our brain, like creatures in the forest- they find pathways that are most efficient and suit their needs for survival and continue to take those paths- in turn making the already preferred path more accessible.
Our brains are so fascinating and intricate, truly divine intelligent design. Something Iâve learned is that the way we perceive, think, and react are all results of the brain trying to do one of two simple things.
Your brain is always trying to connect or protect.
When we develop certain behaviors, itâs usually subconscious decision making where your brain decides what thoughts and actions protect or connect you and sometimes we protect ourselves in one way for so long and that pathway is carved so deepâ only sometimes then do we realize that methods of self preservation that have protected us from so much in the past, they all have to grow and evolve as you do.
This applies to growing out of past connections. Your brain created those connections because it served you at the time. You donât have to hold onto it if itâs nothing but dead weight.
If a child were raised to resolve conflict with intimidation or hostile escalation from a young age, they are then conditioned to project that outwardly.
The malleable child then repeats this cycle of unregulated emotional or hostile outbursts because they have learned that this is how to protect themself. The neural pathway has been formatively imprinted because this is the only conflict resolution pathway theyâve ever taken.
They were taught survival strategies too early, and carried them into adulthood where they now function as limitations. Stability was never introduced as an option.
And when we have these deeply carved neural pathways, they can be outwardly recognized by awareness of those thoughts and feelings youâre having on a regular basis. Even if they are persistent negative thoughts and feelings, they still are most familiar to us. Many times by default our comfort zone lies within the constructs of familiarity.
It is natural to resist the unknown.
Above all else, to feel truly rooted in place of stability and resilience, you have to fully and unequivocally have trust yourself and have unshakable faith in yourself. Know in your heart of hearts that you have made it past every hardship youâve ever faced. You are the one who is still here and thereâs nothing you cannot overcome. Surrender your desire to control the outcome, radically accept whatever is happening right now, and what happens nextâno matter the outcome just recall the lessons and you will acquire a new tool of understanding, strength, confidence, self love, gratitude. So many times youâve saved yourself, you have a collection of tools and weapons youâve acquired in all your battles. You have a wealth of insight to pull from inside, a mini universe in each individual experience.
Here are some tips and tricks to help with grounding, clarity, structure and stability
- Bare feet in grass or mud
- awareness expands clarity
- processing that awareness through our own lenses of reality
- Understanding that many, if not most others process by looking through their own personal lenses as well
- with every interaction, a shared reality is created. Yet we can only see it through our own lense
- Radical acceptance of every present moment exactly as it arrives
- just as quickly as an emotion or reaction arises it passes on by
- that what you can influence is limited to your own behavior and reaction to what unfolds
- noticing and identifying when an unwanted reaction or thought arises within yourself
