Tsukishima x Reader | Notes
word count: 763
It was free period in your classroom, and your teacher told you all to self-study. Knowing that Literature was your worst subject, you decided to study that. However, when you opened your notebook, all you saw was sloppy chicken scratch. You groaned to yourself, annoyed that you really thought you could doze off during lecture. There was no way you could study off of this, and you looked at your neighbor. You looked at back and forth at him until he noticed your glances. Without moving his focus from his own notes, Tsukishima Kei sighed, “What do you need now?”
You clapped your hands together, “Can I please borrow today’s Literature notes?”
Still not looking up from his desk, he replied, “Why don’t you ask someone else?”
“Because,” you explained, “you have the best scores in Literature, and your notes are really easy to follow.”
Tsukishima propped his head on his arm and smirked at you, “What’s in it for me?”
You smiled sheepishly, “I’ll give you my notes next time?”
“No, thanks.” Tsukishima replied, “I think I’d be better off without notes if that were the case.”
“Fine.” You scowled, “I’ll buy you strawberry milk for lunch.”
He smirked, “Now, that’s a deal.”
He held out his notebook for you to grab. But as soon as you were about to grab it, he pulled it from out of your reach, “You better not mess them up.”
He held them closer to you again, and you quickly pulled them out of his hands. You stuck out your tongue, “I’m not as evil as you.”
You opened his notebook, and the amount of effort he put into his notes always amazed you. They were detailed and neat. You made sure to copy everything he’d written because Tsukishima had a knack for choosing the right information that’d be on the test.
Once you finished, you looked through the rest of Tsukishima’s notebook. He looked at you, “I thought you only needed today’s notes.”
You continued to look through the pages, “How are there no doodles? Your handwriting is almost a font. It’s so neat.”
He rolled his eyes, “Are you done yet?”
You grinned, “Let me make sure I didn’t miss anything from past lessons.”
“This sounds like more than just one strawberry milk.” He responded.
Despite his comment, Tsukishima still let you look through his notes. Once you finished, you passed the booklet back to him. He smiled, “I’ll be expecting that strawberry milk pronto.”
When lunch came around, you grabbed your wallet from your bag. When you got up to leave the classroom, Tsukishima chuckled, “Have a safe trip.”
“Thanks.” You replied sarcastically.
When you came back, you saw a smaller orange-haired figure talking to Tsukishima in the doorway. Once you got close enough, you heard him begging Tsukishima for notes. Tsukishima looked at him and deadpanned, “Even if I gave you my notes, it’s not like you’d understand them.”
You approached them at the classroom entrance, and you tilted your head at your blonde classmate, “What’s the issue? You gave me your notes earlier.”
Tsukishima punched the top of the boy’s head and said, “Look. Now, you’ve gotten other people involved in your stupidity.”
The boy rubbed the top of his head and exclaimed, “Tsukishima gave you his notes? I’ve never been able to achieve such a mission!”
“It wasn’t for free.” You laughed and held out the strawberry milk you bought, “I had to offer this as payment.”
“I offered to buy him a meat bun before, and I never reached that stage!” The boy responded.
Tsukishima scowled, “Don’t talk about me as if I’m a level on a video game.”
Tsukishima walked back into the room, and you followed after him. You reached out for his hand and passed him the milk. You also took it as a chance to ask, “Why’d you let me see your notes and not that guy? You two play volleyball together, don’t you?”
Tsukishima punctured a hole into his milk box and answered, “Because.”
You went around him to see his face and grinned, “Because?”
A blush rose to Tsukishima’s cheeks, and he looked away from you, “You’re different. I don’t mind helping you out.”
Your eyes went wide, and you could feel your face starting to heat up. You turned away from him and asked, “Does that mean I don’t have to keep buying you milk in exchange for your notes?”
Tsukishima’s devilish grin reappeared on his face, and he took a sip of the milk, “I’ll think about it.”
