Reblog if you ship YamaKari (Yamato/Hikari)

I often find myself thinking it would be kind of a cute ship, since it have many of my favorite shipping tropes (older boy/younger girl; the girl in love with her brother’s best friend; not to mention the process for Yamato to admit his feelings for Hikari and viceversa) and I think that, if given the chance, it could have a cute chemistry.

I dunno, I just wanna know how many of you like them together.

Fake dating

He only agreed to it as an extra special favor to Hikari but boy did he regret it. When Hikari had asked, and the girl didn’t normally ask for favors of any kind so it was really hard to refuse anything she might ask, Yamato had wrongly assumed that Taichi was in on it. Of course Taichi should be in on it. Why on earth would Hikari hatch such a plan without informing Taichi?! Yamato didn’t know and right about now he wished with every fiber of his being that he just turned down the request. Why did Hikari even ask him?! What had he done to deserve this?!

Bodyswap 

When Hikari woke up as a boy it struck her as strange how similar her appearance was to when she was a girl. She had no idea how it had happened or why she was suddenly a boy but she figured there should be a rational way of dealing with it. Taichi was significantly less calm to find out he now had a little brother for some reason.

Yamato upon finding out he now had boobs had promptly fainted.

Inevitably when they found out that it had only happened to Yamato and Hikari they figured that the two of them, and whatever connection they might have, would be the key to fixing this. Unfortunately for the two, they couldn’t think of a single reason they were connected.

Eventually the cure was a kiss but that was after a lot of awkward adorable romantic shenanigans that occurred to lead them to that moment.

Taichi was even less pleased to learn rather than a younger brother, his again younger sister had a boyfriend.

Okay, this is gonna be a bit hard, but I’ll try!

During a post 02 quest through the digital world investigating a strange phenomenon, Hikari gets all glowy and possessed like she does sometimes in 01 and tells Yamato that the smexy times must happen or doooooooooooooooooom but Yamato’s like, ‘are you srs?!’ because like this is one of his best friends younger sister and he’s never even thought of her like that and he is NOT going to have smexy times with someone who may or may not be willing because some glowing asshole told him to so the possession goes away and Yamato has to like SUPER awkwardly explain the situation to Hikari, who doesn’t take the news so well herself and they have no idea what to because, well, doooooom, but neither of them are really the kind of person that can pushed into this kind of thing. So like they decide to try and get to know each other a bit better just to help the situation and they kind of sit and talk for hours and possession thing happens again and goes like ‘srsly guys, dooooom is coming, get to it, hurry it up’ and they’re like, ‘pshhhhh, easy for you to say jerk’ because it’s kind of hard to get to know each other and start liking each other with that kind of pressure hanging over them and they’re just kind of in a cruddy catch 22 because neither of them would let doooom happen if they can stop it, even at great sacrifice, but neither of them would disrespect each others wishes enough to push for them to go through with it so they have just no idea what to do. I guess eventually Hikari would try and accept the situation because, well, doom and all that, and Yamato would be super nervous and I’m not sure he could go through with it, but even though Hikari was really scared she’d try and make it work so that they could stop the doom and whatnot?

Dark!fic

Hikari has always had a close connection to the digital world, one that the Chosen Children only have a limited understanding of. When Hikari quite suddenly falls deathly ill due to the strange connection, they need to find out how to fix it before she passes.

One of those horribly sad fics where she slips away bit by bit in the hospital and nothing they can do stops it in time.

Unfortunately, while spending time with her in the hospital, Yamato ends up falling in love and losing her all in one.

Hikari would never admit it, even ‘till the end, but she kind of fell pretty hard herself.

Secret kinks

Hikari loves to embarrass Yamato because for all of his bravado, he’s a pretty shy boy at heart that’s pretty darn terrible at communication. He’s most always dependable when it matters but when it’s just the every day normal, it’s almost sad how easy it is to get him to turn beat red.

Yamato will never, ever, ever confess to anything close to kink because he’s very, very vanilla.

Their first kiss

Yamato, the sweet silly awkward boy, had been hoping/aiming for something romantic, something memorable, something that would be a story to tell in the future. Hikari had other plans. Without regard to all the adorably unrealistic plans that Yamato had, she gave him a peck on the lips after a study session and giggled as his face slowly turned the color of a tomato before his awkward departure.

Meeting the parents

The Yagami family had been ecstatic to meet Hikari’s boyfriend, even more comforted to learn that it was a boy they’d known since he was a child, there was nothing difficult about the casual happy meeting except for Yamato’s shot nerves and the very, very over-protective older brother.

Hikari and Takeru spent the next week joking about how meeting Takeru was ‘meeting Yamato’s family’ and outside of a brief conversation regarding their usual brother-complex pact (don’t step on my toes, won’t step on yours) they had no issues.

Hikari did eventually have a semi official meeting with Yamato’s father, it was brief and as casual as one of these sorts of meetings could feel. He greeted her, stuffed his face as quickly as possible, and declared that he had to get back to work because he had the late shift too. Hikari found it kind of adorable what a rush he was always in. When she shared the thought with Yamato he looked at her like she was crazy.

Moving in together

Taichi spent the entire time carrying boxes while glaring daggers at Yamato. Yamato, for his part, was flinching away from the judging eyes. Hikari, finally, tired of it. Had him put down the current box. “Yes, I’m moving into Yamato’s apartment.” It was closer to her university and they’d been talking about it for awhile, Taichi didn’t look happy, “And yes, it’s that Yamato’s apartment.” Taichi looked even more upset, Hikari softened a bit, “I know it’s hard Niichan, but I really want this to work out.” “But…!” “No buts, Yamato’s one of your best friends so stop making him feel like a monster.” And that was Hikari’s bossy voice, she didn’t use it often, but even Taichi knew better than to defy it.

Hikari is the Vampire Slayer and Tailmon is a bamf demon that at first is kinda evil but goes neutral, leaning towards Hikari’s side. Taichi doesn’t know she’s the slayer, or what a slayer is for that matter until he ends up catching her patrolling and without even asking questions takes a baseball bat to a vamps head and drags Hikari away. Turns out he knew about vampires and usually occasionally did some patrolling of his own. Boy was he surprised to learn his baby sister now has super strength.

Ever since their mother passed away Yamato and Takeru have been on the road with their father, hunting things, saving people, the family business. Boy was he surprised to meet the slayer.

An au of my choice

Never having met before, Hikari becomes Yamato’s bands’ manager. She went to school for teaching but ended up in a job like this due to the economy. Although Taichi and Yamato had met briefly as kids it wasn’t memorable enough for either Hikari or Yamato to recognize each other. Hikari is a good manager but Yamato’s focus is drifting away from the band because of his whole emo no-one-understands-me thing and it’s not helping them get by. Through shenanigans Hikari finds out about his drifting attention and ends up tutoring him so that he can go to a college and pursue other endeavors if he wants to even though, if the band falls apart, she loses her job.

AU Amnesia: Hikari loses all of her memories in an accident and Sora and Jyou are doctors and Yamato is a nurse and Taichi is entrusting them to take care of his sister. Yamato ends up spending a lot of time with Hikari to help out but as some of her memories begin to come back she realizes she knows Yamato’s estranged brother from her college classes and they get reunited and whatnot.
