everything has changed [heechan]

Heechul still wasn’t sure what the reason was that he was still going on with this. It had clearly been either a joke or a challenge right? So busy with  their hunt and with the teasing towards each other that they just talked about it. So why was he in front of the mirror checking himself again? He actually tried to look casual chic. Not wanting it to be too much yet wanting to look good. Why again?

He groaned softly as he pulled his phone out of his pocket.

[text: Tease Subject]: Six o’clock at Tuppul Deungshim. Or are you backing out already? 

 [text: Tease Subject]: Or do you want me to pick you up babe? 

So maybe he was teasing the male just to get a hold on himself. After all, the little challenging was something he was used to between the both of them. The teasing, the challenging, he could do that. It was fun and it was something he was good at, while hiding any other thought that was spooking around in his mind. Just as the little nickname given to him. Well at least he had enjoyed that their first mission together. He sighed and put his phone away before he started to gather his stuff. Not taking another look in the mirror or he would probably stand there for another hour. Wanting to make sure he had everything and was ready to go once he got the message. It depending on Himchan’s reply whether he would go by car or not. If Himchan went there alone he could probably go some other way, being able to drink a bit. (a lot if needed) 

He had actually placed a reservation at a nice barbeque restaurant. It seemed like the best restaurant for the both of them. After all, they needed to barbeque their meat themselves. That way they could keep themselves busy when they fell into another awkward silence. He hoped those wouldn’t happen too much tonight though he wasn’t so sure of it. He ran a hand through his hair as he thought about it. What were they going to talk about? Their past, nicely talking about being bullied and hating each other, great. Talking about their missions? Well that wasn’t allowed. So what else was there to talk about. “This was a stupid idea,” he mumbled to himself.

Valentine challenge [hc&hc]

So Heechul had come up with an idea, which would probably end up badly. So he had heard about the scavenger hunt. Meaning there was an event he could win, making him quite a bit competitive to do so. He had thought of a good partner to do so, though he was quite sure the other wouldn’t want to. Which meant, he had to make the male want it. Step one; get his number. Easy enough via the company. Step two; text him and challenge him. With a smirk he texted the following.

[text: Heard about that Scavenger hunt? It is said that one could win nice prices. So I need a partner to win it.]

There was a list, he learned. A list of all the casualties from that night where blood and flames dyed the stars with a deep red. At least for Baekhyun all he saw that night was red. Even now through the white pages and black ink, he only saw red from each person’s name. An uncomfortable itch scratched against the back of his throat when he saw his own name. It was the kind of itch that he knew would go right away with a simple utterance: “Useless.” The self berating didn’t feel as satisfying as he expected it be, but then again it never was. The feeling anchored itself in his head with its sail fluttering high and visible no matter how much he tried to ignore it. 

He wanted to ignore it all.

He remembered seeing another name on the list. He hadn’t seen the face that came with the name in a while. As one half of the matching pajama pair, he had a duty to check up on his partner. ( Even if that was a bit of a stretch, he’d gladly take up any distraction. )

"Knock knock,” he announced despite ringing the doorbell. 

The door was locked. He knew, of course, because he couldn’t stop himself from reaching out and giving the doorknob a few twists. By no means were they close enough to where Baekhyun could let himself in. Even he knew the meaning of boundaries, but he wanted to at least peek his head in. 

A second passed. Then another. Then a few minutes. Never an entirely patient one, Baekhyun rocked from the heel of his feet to his toes. If he had a watch, he’d check it just for the sake of dramatics. His hands cupped around his mouth area to form a crappy, little loudspeaker. “I have cake with me if that helps! --Well two slices. And they’re not both for you so don’t get too hungry.”

Chanyeol shrugged before grinning, “Not at all, I’m just warning that this has ‘bad idea’ written all over it.” How did they even get in this situation? He didn’t remember but his stubborn heart stopped him from giving into a good challenge- He flexed his biceps and shoulders before settling an arm down on the table while adjusting his other arm comfortably. “Remember, loser from arm-wrestling has to buy the winner dinner~”

     Always expect the unexpected. He’s allowed himseld to fall into false sense of security when seat is re-taken and he slid down next to Jinhee silently with a gentle smile in greeting, only briefly apologetic for having taken so long in his endeavour of familiarizing with the territory. Among other things. People. Private meeting with a certain agent. Not his proudest moment. Focus was shifted on the man stepping forward next however and he forgot all the rest, almost able to look forward to the dinner and more.

     The calm lasted for mere breath as he watched the suited men holding giant checks march forth, the warned flower -- chrysanthemum -- fresh on them as he tensed upon realization of what it entailed. Everything there forth happened too fast, yet in a slow motion all the same as he shared a pointed glance with his appointed companion, listened to the speech with one ear and dreaded the end drawing near upon each syllable spouted.

     The first shot came as a shock, admittedly, the rest not so.

     Plan was to protect the people present, guide them to safety if possible, and he is set on exactly doing such when darting gaze landed on an old pair fallen to the ground just ahead, struggling to stand up or even paralyzed in fear. Jimin didn’t have time to think, more so he was far disconnected from logical train of thought in the midst of chaos as he leapt across the floor and past hysterical civilians, knives drawn.

     With a regretfully belated notion he became aware weapons at hand would do very little against the rain of bullets, but intention had not been on defeat of the terrorists on his part, task left to fellow agents he hoped were more heavily armed, and prepared as he came to a halt between the couple and gunmen still standing up, moments gratitude felt as he watched several being shot down. Indeed, he had been right to place trust on the agency, friends in arms.

     He’s yelling out for the pair behind him to stay down, head turned to the side to assess whether either has been hurt, when the pain rips through his arm, left one, at least, thank the gods, and flares up to his shoulder with a pulsating mix of heat and something familiar, sharp shock. the male doesn’t waver, doesn’t shout, but it’s a close call as he stumbles and grits teeth together hard enough he expects them to shatter against each other. This could have gone much better. But he’s alive. The people behind him are alive. More or less. It’s fine.

the entire thing was going to be incredibly awkward. when he got the case file, it seemed like a pretty normal undercover type of job, but as he read further he realized the requirement’s and his own special part in this entire act - and it was purely because the person he was working with had far to deep of a voice to pull off ... 

dressing as a women.

utterly humiliating. 

it wasn’t like sunggyu  hadn’t gone undercover before, it was a simple sort of task really, it was just he never wore a brown wig with false eyelashes glued onto his lids and a dress. he’d rather not mention the heels, they hurt like hell and he was going to end up killing someone by the end of the night at this rate. 

the dress was black, and a little too tight around his thighs - the false set of breasts were too heavy and the wig hair kept getting in his mouth or stuck to the red lipstick against his  lips. at least he got to wear a fur jacket to hide his broad shoulders and also keep him from freezing - he didn’t understand how it was that women managed to wear so little and not get sick in the cool nights of seoul. 

as he waited for kim himchan to arrive and take him to the car they’d be using, he checked his phone and sighed; the night had barely begun yet sunggyu already wished for it’s end.

“a mug of warm americano, please.” 

she pauses. “actually-” she speaks up once again, staring at the menu on the board, “i’d like a cherry blossom latte instead.” if she’s going to relax a bit, she’s going to do it properly. it’s been a while she treated herself- even though it’s something small as this. she presses the books against her chest even more as she stares at the barista through her thin, wire rimmed glasses. “and the new york cheesecake too, please.” she adds, this time with a little more confidence. 

it’s a cafe she comes to often whenever she has the time. it’s not too commercial, cozy in the corners and welcoming in the open. she picks out a table, spilling her books onto it before taking out a pen, starting to study right away after taking a seat. she plans to stay here until the place closes. she’s worn from the hours of back to back lectures, and she pulls her white turtle neck up to her chin as she stares down at her textbook blankly for ten minutes before slamming her forehead against the pages. darn it. she groans inwardly. her brain’s totally fried.
