If his co-pilot, Isla Reyes, is a hurricane, he’s the calm before the storm. Though he is no less audacious and daring than his co-pilot in their Jaeger, Banshee Tango, he’s much more logical than she is, tempering her aggressive nature with his calming one. Outspoken and articulate, there is very little that he says or does that he doesn’t mean. There is intent behind every one of his actions, leaving very little room for doubt. He’s confident without being cocky, self-reliant without keeping people at an arm’s length - he’s the first person that’ll pop into your head when you hear the words “good guy” because that’s what he is: he’s a good man with a good heart and good intentions, and he goes out of his way to make sure that the world knows that yes, he has a grudge against the Kaiju, but that’s between him and the monsters he faces on the regular with Isla; his life is not consumed by vengeance and he won’t let all of the cruelties in the world make him cruel or unfeeling in turn. His smile is inviting and his relaxed disposition doubly so - everyone in Hong Kong can tell you just how infectious his grin is, just like they can tell you he’s the only person who can rein in his co-pilot when she’s being ridiculous - which is quite often, but they’ve been riding together for 12 years, matched together before their training was even fully completed. Overall, Chapman’s a very genuine person, the kind who wears his heart on his sleeve while still managing to play things close to the chest.
It might seem like a lot, but I’m pretty flexible on all aspects about him. History, personality (I don’t mind if you make some tweaks, the only important thing is that he and Isla balance each other), even the face is workable for me. Anthony Mackie is preferred, but I wouldn’t be opposed if you made changes. If Chapman sounds interesting to you, hit me up and let’s discuss! My askbox is one click away!
