Sometimes, it was hard to believe that Nagato was growing so quickly. Compared to Yahiko and Konan, her son had always been a bit of a late bloomer, so when they finally emerged from the Intelligence Division after doing weekly checks on the seal she’d designed for his bewildering doujutsu, she was almost struck by how tall he was becoming. Nagato trotted up to her and engulfed her in a hug, which earned a ring of giggling from her other wards and Nagato’s dear friends she loved like her own children. The Uzumaki poked her tongue out at them childishly, and Nagato mimicked her.
“Oh hey, mama, it’s time for Academy lessons! Do you wanna come with us?” Nagato prompted eagerly, to no derision from either Yahiko or Konan, to which she agreed eagerly.
Spring was beautiful in Konoha, she had to admit. As the Intelligence Division wasn’t far from the Academy, the walk was short but peaceful. Along the way, Nagato and Yahiko especially ran ahead to carouse with their classmates while Konan held her hand, Gai whooping once Yahiko high-fived the taijutsu prodigy. With Dai waiting, by her friend and tutor did they watch on fondly, but it seemed as though it were a special day.
Fusou barely contained a grin when she spied the Hokage, a man whose face was the forth to join the illustrious monument fairly recently.
“Heeey, D-man! You gonna give these kids one of your pep talks? Anything to escape the paperwork, am I right?”

“Damn, I think ya got a better knack fer this than I ever have.”
Fuso couldn’t help but feel a fluttery sense of pride at seeing Nagato’s hands braced on both extremes of a sealing formula, an unconscious fish at its center. Though it was crude compared to the kinds the Medic Corps trained with, the technique had originally been Uzumaki. While hers was more to balance and regulate the Uzumaki’s overwhelming but regenerative chakra while the adapted version served to convert ordinary chakra into healing chakra jade in color. Though Fuso had only glimpsed the adaptation a few times before, it only took a few adjustments to replicate something similar for Nagato.
Soon, the fish began flopping animatedly and Fuso placed it back in one of the many streams that ran through the Uzumaki temple’s complex. Watching it swim away, both seated on a tarp on the soft turf, Fuso glanced at her son thoughtfully.
“Wanna try healin’ somethin’ else before Yahi-kun and Ko-chan come back?”

Being with you is the best decision I've ever made and I don't want to do anything to compromise that...
But fuck I really do have a strong attachment forming to him. I hope you truly end up being okay with that.
I'm beyond scared about this appointment tomorrow. This can't be good. None of this can be good. At least I won't be alone.
I've never trusted anyone like I trust Frank. Having him there has to end up being more good than bad right?
