historian here, so of course my brain went there : which historical periods some of the pitt characters would've specialized in
mohan : contempo. i can obviously see her working on issues of discrimination and protest movements, also with a historiographical angle on the subjects she addresses, which can also be relevant to studies on discrimination and representation.
santos : either medieval or modern, depending on which timeframe she’d want to cover. see her working on gender and sexuality before or during colonial periods.
al‑hashimi : contempo. more oriented toward political questions, international relations, the beginnings of conflicts, that kind of thing.
mel : obviously modern. her whole alter ego exists to bear witness. she gives me the energy of someone who’d work on leisure and everyday life.
javadi : antiquity. i’d argue that part of her is genuinely drawn to this period, while another part is tempted to choose the option that appears more complex in terms of sources, partly to satisfy her mother (though every historical era comes with its own challenges). and depending on which antiquities she ends up choosing, she could get into super specific stuff, like the sensory or musical aspects of religious life for example.
abbot : contempo. classic little white boy who got into history through military history. but i can still see him focusing on more micro‑level questions or centered on resistance movements and the figures who shaped them during conflicts.

should be noted : the concept of periodization is acknowledged as biased and its reassessment is frequent
