EXCERPT

He stays silent.

Because that way, his soulmate will never find him, and no one will look at him like that anymore.

And it works. They’re too confused and they falter when he simply nods, when he does nothing but look blankly at them as they wait for him to say whatever words line their soft skin, and eventually, they leave him alone.

The only people he talks to are the instructors, with their rings shining on their fingers and their marks brazenly displayed.

He’s fine with that. He is.

MY COMMENTS

Let me tell you something, I was genuinely terrified when I read this fic. I kept on scrolling up and checking the tags and convincing myself they’re going to be okay because “It isn’t tagged Major Character Death, they’ll be okay.” This was a life-changing experience holy shit and their development from their “rivalry” to their friendship to lovers transitioned so smoothly and you bet I’m in love with the writing. This fic was terrifying, but believe me when I say they’re okay—they will be okay.

Slivers of moonlight filter through the blinds above their heads, casting lines of truth across the sheets. Lance tilts his head forward and a band slides over his eyes, catching the ocean in them and drawing Keith into their rolling tides. And as distracted as he is, he doesn't put up a fight when a hand clasps his own, reeling them heartward.

“Home is just something you can come back to.” His knuckles brush against the soft fabric of a nightshirt, the v-neckline falling loose to reveal a sharp collarbone, and Keith feels his breath hitching. “Something that keeps you grounded.”

Klance fic rec

I just sat and binge read this story “there, nestled against his pulse” by @hiuythn and just... you know sometimes people ask me for story recs and... just go read this one, Trust me.

Random tags from me - soulmate story (I’m just a sucker for these), there will be laughing and crying as you read, this is one of the best Shiro characterizations ever, it says “character death” (so I almost didnt read), but then it also says no one actually dies (so this isn’t a spoiler - the author tags it as such at the beginning) - so don’t let that scare you off.

Just, if you’re in the mood for a good story (its about 55,000 words but you’re not going to want it to end), then go read this one :D

a very good scene from there, nestled against his pulse by @hiuythn (whose handle i have misspelled like six different ways across my sketch notes and drawing to do list orz), for my nano18 fic writer appreciation month. not my favorite scene, because i could never choose a favorite, because there are **so many** excellent scenes in this story

gist: a slowburn klance soulmate au.   and one of my favorite go-to fics when i’m feeling bleh and need a concentrated dose of warm fuzzies tempered with angst.

my favorite thing about hiuythn’s writing is how they write the relationship. which, ok, doesn’t sound specific, but im not sure how to articulate it. there’s just a ton of really satisfying scenes where they just...interact.   and a plausible build-up in their dynamic, a motley mix of actual fighting and play-fighting and teasing and being genuinely supportive? like, they write them very playfully without it being implausibly sappy. and of course the climax of the story is wonderfully heart-wrenching and angsty.  and they write really fantastic dialogue and evocative imagery.

i don’t know, i just really love it, so go read it!
