Thor was in the kitchen, having just come in from seeing to the goats. he was standing very still and in a somewhat awkward position - four kittens wrapped thoroughly around his feet in overlapping directions so that he couldn't move without tripping over or treading on one.

They were purring.

Rather than arguing the point with Loki, Roskva simply let it slide and went to talk to Thor later. She found him at the goat pasture, checking on the fostered kid. One of the goats, bred for the first time this year, had turned out to give mead instead of milk -- that sort of thing cropped up periodically in goats from divine stock -- so they'd carefully transferred her kid to one of the reliable milch goats who'd only had one this year. 

"The kittens' eyes are open," she said, reaching the end of the sentence with an unfinished air.

Tarene's Visit

Thor waited by the door, hoping Tarene wouldn't get lost between universes since he'd have no idea what to do if she did. He was still wondering where to take her, he had no idea of her food preferences, except that she'd be fine with pizza.

After a while the door opened and he stepped forward with a smile.

1. I was forbidden to climb trees for about nine years. This was largely Thialfi's fault, but he did pretend to get stuck a few times so I could go rescue him. Thor and Sif don't mind. 

2. I love berries. Pretty much all kinds. 

3. I suspect my family's livestock improved a lot after boarding Thor's goats during breeding season. 

4. Sif taught me to read. I doubted it would be much use, at first, but I learned because she said so. 

5. Loki used to quiz me on the futhark and tell me stories or other facts about the runes, all of which were memorable and most of which were accurate. 

6. I think I'd like birdsong about as well if I understood it. Aren't all the best songs about love or war anyway?

7. By this point I can cook almost anything well the first time. 

8. I don't miss most of the people I met in naughtbutwits' universe that much, but there's him, there's this shopkeeper from Broxton whose response to watching refugees from several worlds appear without explanation in the middle of town was to arrange water and snacks, and I think I wish I'd met his Thor. 

9. I can do magic, but only a little.

Timing!

Roskva found it a relief to get everybody -- well, almost everybody -- in the same room again for dinner, even if there was still some tension. Eating dinner at least provided a good alternative if anybody didn't want to talk, and Thialfi apparently took it on himself to make up any conversational deficits by filling them in on stories from their neighbors. (Among the eight nearest families, there had lately been two weddings, three babies, a death, an unsolved jewel robbery, and a remarkably entertaining snowball fight.) 

She had just gone to get the meringue drops out of the oven to go with the ice cream when everyone suddenly fell silent.

Mjolnir was stolen earlier today...and returned which makes it the fastest my hammer has ever been retrieved. I still don't know who stole it though. Yes, I know Loki's the obvious culprit. But there are two of them in the house at the moment.

I realize I'm not exactly an expert in Loki's behavior, but that seems unusually bizarre. How was it returned to you?
