You could kiss a #cod on a once in a lifetime photo experience with #ullomphoto! This was taken after midnight off the coast of #hofsos in northern #Iceland. Great fishing and photography!
Farm in Iceland by Dagur Jonsson Via Flickr: Hof á Höfðaströnd in northwest Iceland is a farm in Skagafjordur, just above Hofsós. On the farmland there is an old wooden church, built between 1868-1870. For more picture from my stay in Skagafjordur, please visit my Facebook page.
I’m glad I managed to squeeze in a few more road trips in January. I still had some things to tick off my bucket list and it was super lucky that on both trips we were blessed with magnificent clear blue skies and very little wind. I had this constant dread in the back of my mind that all this impossibly beautiful weather would need to be balanced out by something more apocalyptic, but thankfully that never really happened either.
Ellis, the beautiful and talented Scot that was at Nes for October/November, had moved onto the next residency in Ólafsfjörður (one fjord over). The residency there has a little bit more structure, part of which involves a group exhibition in nearby Akureyri. I thought I’d surprise her at the opening as well as seeing a few things along the way.
The plan was to drive first to the small town of Hofsos on the way, and more specifically, the incredible infinity pool that sits casually overlooking the bay of Skagafjörður. Unfortunately we had a late late start after having a bit too much to drink the night before. The sun was setting and the pool was closed by the time we arrived so we moved on.
The drive itself to Akureyri is incredible. The road winds its way through the mountains and on a good day you get incredible views of deep valleys and snow capped mountains skirting the road on either side. Of course in bad weather these roads are inevitably the first to be closed off, but luck was on our side. I forget how many times we pulled over for photos.
After the opening and a night spent at a cheap Airbnb, we returned home a little earlier in order to spend some time in Hofsos. The pool truly was incredible, and we were the only people there. I could’ve stayed in that water for hours.
