short story: Unfriended
I have a short story out today! this one is unusual for me in that it's (a) contemporary, (b) new adult, and (c) centers on the aftermath of a friends breakup, which made it very difficult to write bc while I long for more of that subject matter in books and feel it would've helped me when I was younger, I tend to avoid writing it
(I am definitely more of a "catharsis by giving my characters all the good things" kind of writer than a "catharsis by dragging my characters through the absolute worst things" kind of writer)
Because Mads is sitting three stools away, cutting Casey out of her stories like they’re pictures.
anyway if you'd like to read about a queer, neurodivergent twentysomething who runs into her ex-best-friend while out with her new work friends, Windmill: The Hofstra Journal, Issue 6, is now up on their website and can be read for free.
tws for "Unfriended":
anxiety/panic attacks
friendship ending unexpectedly
read Issue 6

OPENING THURSDAY. “Perle Fine: The Accordment Series” 2/13/20, 6-8pm. Perle Fine’s connection with Minimalism is clear. Kathleen Housley states in her seminal book, “Tranquil Power: The Art and Life of Perle Fine:” “Close in age and in temperament, Fine and [Agnes] Martin shared many similarities, one being that their art was routinely described by critics as ‘atmospheric’ and ‘classic.’” The two artists appeared together in a group show at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1962 called “Geometric Abstraction in America.” Perle Fine’s grids are set apart from minimalist tendencies by using colorful lines, planes of color, and sweeping brushstrokes. Housley states: “Fine’s unique strength was, and always had been, her use of color.” #perlefine #fine #9thstreet #9thstreetshow #9thstreetwomen #womenofabstractexpressionism #minimalism #colorpainting #asl #hanshofmann #hofstra #hamptonsartist #guildhall #accordment #accordmentseries #chelseagalleries #openingnight #artinstallation #openingreception #thursdaynight #galleryhopping #nycart #womenartists #womenartdealers #berrycampbell (at Berry Campbell) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8agUGyFq7B/?igshid=eba0ed2np4vy
