Eclipse is like a tattered up street cat full of mistrusted a and traumatized by the life he has been leading, he’s gonna take a while to warm up to people

But sunpea has the right idea of gently trying to chat with him rather than hound him with questions or expect him to be buddy buddy instantly,

He’s gonna bite and hiss and scratch a bit before he lets you pet him

Feral cat who needs space and gentle care to calm down and warm up to you. Yeah Eclipse didn't appreciate being treated the same way as a child, but Sunpea doesn't have a better frame of reference and that kind of grace and patience is exactly what Eclipse needs. Certainly better than berating him and getting mad he's not better at being always civil immediately.
