Thinking about how the inverse of Long Hair Shane from tlg would be Lesbian Jane who wears her hair long her whole life and hates it. It gets frizzy from sweat, and it’s so hot, and she hates brushing out the knots, and it’s not like she styles it often-only when she has to for events. She hates it hates it hates it but she can’t cut it super short because there was a kid in her class who did and all of the other students bullied that girl for being a dyke and a lesbian and a girl-kisser

so now Jane is stuck having long hair that she hates but she can’t cut it because she’s already a jock and she doesn’t want something as stupid as her hair length making people think she’s QuEeR

But about 1 year post-outing, she wakes Lily up in the middle of the night (very “what if you move to ottowa moment) and is like “i need to cut off my hair RIGHT NOW”. And a very groggy Lily looks her deep in the eye and Knows. They spend 30 minutes in the bathroom with a razor alternating between laughing and crying and holding each other until it’s done

Suddenly, she’s nervous. What if Lily prefers a girl with longer hair? What if she’s not feminine enough anymore? What if she’s too dyke, too butch? Lily sees the breakdown coming and pulls her away from the mirror to the shower to wash everything off, and kisses her softly saying “You’ve never looked more beautiful. I love you”

In order to understand Shane Hollander you have to understand he kept hooking up with Ilya BECAUSE he thought his feelings were not reciprocated.
