Color Max California

The “You Are the Star” mural is located at the southeast corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Wilcox Avenue in Los Angeles. It was painted in 1983 by Thomas Suriya and over the years it has fallen victim to vandalism.

In May of 2026, the mural was redone with a digital image printed on vinyl that was placed over the original painted wall. Within 24 hours, it was vandalized and all of the vinyl was pulled down to reveal the original painting, which is covered in graffiti. This mural is a part of Hollywood history and it can be seen in the movie 8MM (1999). For this reason I thought it would be fun to place Max California in front of it for an adult coloring experience that three people who follow me might appreciate.
