     okay,,, so the only reason this is gonna be awkward is because i’m on my knees, hopin’ and prayin’ ghost hasn’t told you about how often i blab about you because i actually loVE YOU GREY —

     i don’t say it enough,, but i really do — every blog i’ve followed you on,, every character i’ve seen you put out,, i think it’s all just so amazing and your portrayals are always so ON POINT,, your aesthetics are always beautiful and hold on — let’s talk about mr. train wreck → elliot witt for a sec because i’ve got a story to tell, okay,,

     in case y’all didn’t know, i love me some fuckin’ apex legends — and i was THIS 👌 FUCKIN’ CLOSE to making a blog for that man — solely because i thought he deserved fucking justice. just like jesse mccree,, he can very easily be considered a...flat, single dimensional character — however, me, an intellectual, knew he deserved better. the only thing that stopped me from doling out this justice? you beat me to it. justice is served. you give this man ( and all of your other muses tbfh,, ) so much fuckin’ life — life outside of what other people will only see on the surface — your writing is such a good read and your portrayals are always such a nice breath of fresh air — you’ve done such a wonderful job at developing your muses way beyond their covers,, so i’d like to say thank you for this gift.

VITRIOL THICK IN TONE, the mender lashing out not by cause of DISTASTE, but of PANIC---he’s never been in this state before, & he’d never verbalize his FEAR at mirage bearing WITNESS TO IT---

       a localized radial EMP, & him caught just on the outskirts of it ;

feels like somethin’ robbed him of his BONES, the mender WEAK & now ANGERED for it---he doesn’t like not having his STRENGTH, & likes even LESS being CAUGHT in such pitiful condition.

& SURE, mirage is a SHOULDER TO LEAN ON, but dox’s stubbornness is a SICKNESS in its OWN RIGHT, & when met with RETURNING RESISTENCE, it becomes something of a BATTLE to prove that HIS OWN WILL IS THE STRONGER---

the mender ticks his jaw so tight a TOOTH might very-well crack, & with a decisive sweep he angles his chin away ; it’s oddly GENTLE, then, the way his eyelids fall shut - & dox, for once, takes a breath for CONSIDERATION.

---mirage is CONCERNED, he KNOWS this - the issue is that THIS, TOO, ADDS TOO HIS FRUSTRATION ; dox is supposed to be BETTER than this.          ...shit, but WHO FOR ?

something akin to GUILT draws a streak of PAIN through his heart, & dox’s head HANGS with a keening breath. he’s too fucking tired for this crap, & he KNOWS he’s scared to deal with it alone - furthermore, he knows he doesn’t HAVE to, it’s just his own shitting personality getting in the way.

FINGERS LINKED LOOSELY as they travel slowly past pop-up shop fronts, dox frequently distracted & occasionally PULLING AWAY for it, yet always catching mirage at the last second with a HOOK from his pinky ‘round the other man’s own ; 

          JUVENILE, this bullshit, but---he can’t say he MINDS.

                                                             “ hey, check it out--- ”

eyes LIGHT UP & without much else to go on, dox all-but DRAGS mirage to a stall some feet away ; it presents fabrics & cloths for all different purposes, & what drew dox over is a dark sheet with lines of BRIGHT GREEN illuminating down it in timed streaks, almost like the path of SYNTHETIC RAINDROPS on a window ; 

                                “ i’ve been meaning to change out that bead curtain. ”

there’s a DISCONCERTING PAUSE, dawson cox taking a moment for SILENCE to SETTLE before he looks towards mirage, though still words stall.

                                                        “ ---you know you don’t have to be ?”

LOOK , HE KNOWS HE’S DIFFICULT --- bad attitude, bad outlook, & SHIT, undoubtedly BAD SMELL---yet despite all this, mirage has found some point in STAYING, something worth staying FOR--- 

                                                     ( at least dox knows it’s not for MONEY. )

...but for as long as he chooses to remain, dox will be glad to have him - perhaps a little DESPRATE for such, as may be gleaned from how he reaches for his lover’s hand, interlacing their fingers & giving a squeeze that only FAINTLY trembles.

     She was recovering - pale, and so very quiet as she sat tucked into the corner of her couch, wrapped in a blanket so she could forgo the usual garb and have the bandages breathe. She’s sore after the havoc have all but tore her shoulder from its socket, and putting it back in place had been...painful mid game. It was irritating, but she had survived. Messages passed to Elliott, if only so he didn’t think she was ignoring him.

     But it’s how he had found her, tucked into that couch and just aching as she clutched at her tea cup, “Elliott...” a quiet greeting, voice hoarse - she hasn’t slept, but she still offers him a smile as he joins her on the couch. For once, it’s her that leans into him, gingerly avoiding moving that right shoulder, as she curls into his side, “Mm, they got lucky with a Havoc, I’m fine,” she explains, as if he wasn’t watching the game when her squad had left her, and she’d opted for shotguns instead of her beloved Sniper. That triple take was terrifying in her hands, but so was the mastiff, and she had cleared a squad herself - pissed afterwards, and that fury had fueled the rest of her game in hunting her squad back down.

     “Mm, you mean when you do something reckless, and I have to suffer the consequences?” She can’t help but tease, leaning forward to place the tea on the table before looking to him. A tease, like she isn’t the one known for being aggressive in the Games as well, pushing seemingly foolish odds, and, for the most part, coming out on top. Like she didn’t actively chase her Knocking in the last game to try and just be free of it and return home after that injury.

     “...We’ll cross that bridge later, though. That isn’t for some time, Elliott, ideally. We have time to come up with a plan, if there even is one,” a soft chuckle, offering him the remote as she tucks herself back against him, the heavy sigh there and she’s content to burrow there to rest.

     “...thank you though, for coming. I...don’t quite think I would’ve done well alone today,” he knows the past, the truth about her injury and it’s repercussions from before, and today was too similar, she can’t handle it well, not alone with just her thoughts. It was terrifying every time she was forced to step into that arena once more, dreading when her end would finally come like They wanted. She was a liability - too beloved to have go missing, but a tragic sell piece should an accident occur, and she knew it....
