Homemade Pita bread
This was my first time to cook pita bread. I was thinking it must be very difficult to cook and time consuming, but actually it was not! (Well, you need at least 2 hours because it’s bread and you need to leaven. But it is worth it)
[Ingredients]
250 grams of all purpose flour
1 tbsp of dry yeast
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 tbsp of low sugar
1/2 tsp of salt
1 cup of warm water
[Instruction]
1. Put flour, dry yeast and low sugar in the big bowl and mix them up with your hand. Add salt and pour warm water little by little and combine all together. Add olive oil until the dough starts to come together.
2. Dust a clean surface lightly with flour and place the dough. Knead the dough until it comes together by hand about 7 to 8 minutes.
3. Let dough rest in a bowl covering with cellophane in a warm place for 1 hour.
4. Again dust the clean surface lightly with flour and divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. (50 grams of each) Roll the dough pieces into a ball shape and roll each dough ball into a thin disc.
5. Put olive oil in a pan and pan-fly each pitas one by one. (Bake for 2 minutes for each sides)
The baked and cooled pitas can be frozen or stored covered at room temperature for 1-2 days!
