Carapace Headcanon Time!

So, I was thinking about this and I guess started spewing ideas about it and this happened!

Okay, so a carapace is the word for a shell/exoskeleton on animals. Most animals that have a carapace are cold blooded, thusly Carapaces are cold blooded. They use their shell to warm the liquid and the air that runs underneath it. And I'm like; What if in some brutal universes, some humans or whatever decided to rip the carapace exoskeleton off of them for some type of heating device, or because they're just ruthless? Like, some only half dead, screaming in agony as without any surgical tools a person simply puts one foot on their chest and one on the wall and pulls until the carapace breaks off... And then I was like; what if thats some kind of major punishment on Prospit and Derse? Like, taking away the natural heater painfully and leaving them to die unless they shamefully find a way to cover up? Furthermore, say carapaces shells don't fully warm them to a safe temperature, like, near but not quite. Due to such a thing, they'd enjoy cuddling and or hanging out in pairs often, having close physical relationships. Though, some may try to tuff it out, even though it would usually lead to early death and lethal sicknesses. Meanwhile just using a blanket or really any source of artificial heater is practically saying "I'm weak and nobody likes me", making it quite the shameful thing. Dersites, though, would naturally be warmer due to their black carapace exoskeleton drawing in heat. It'd bring them closer to the safest living temperature but not quite. That means though, that Prospitians are more likely to have to cuddle for warmth than Dersites. Propsitians, though, being thought of as a weaker race, would want to show off. They'd try to tuff it out themselves and end up having a higher death rate than Dersites.
