I've been rotating a paleolithic fantasy story in my brain. Here my protagonists have taken shelter for the night, unaware that a pair of maneating hominins have discovered their cave.

Homo rudolfensis self portrait ✌️
Got myself a copy of the recent Little Foot skull scan from MorphoSource, and already have it symmetrized and all wrapped up with soft tissues in Blender : ) Both of those alterations are a little speculative (and maybe unfinished), but this life-restoration is off to a good start
Homo sapiens is #9. Who were the eight other human species?
There were at least eight other human species, some of whom existed for far longer than we have. Who were they?
Around 6 million years ago, a branch of apes evolved to become the first species of the genus Homo. These early humans ditched the long arms of apes for stronger legs. A portrait of Shanidar I, a Neanderthal man who experienced multiple debilitating injuries that would have left him severely disabled. Despite these injuries and thanks to the care of his community, he lived to be between 30-45, which is considered elderly for Neanderthals - a reminder of how deeply rooted compassion and altruism are in our origins.
Sahelanthropus Painting
This is a painting I did in my sketchbook of Sahelanthropus tchadensis, a possible progenitor of human beings that lived in Africa around seven million years ago. They appear to have had a bipedal gait which would make them one of the earliest members of the hominin lineage after our evolutionary divergence from panins (chimpanzees and bonobos) within the great ape family.

Homo erectus OC!!! (ergaster in case homo erectus gets split). Placeholder name became actual name... again.
She was cloned back to our present day for biological anthropology studies, and while her body was easy to study, her modern, cultural upbringing made her pretty much functionally a regular human. Nonetheless, she faces a lot of scrutiny for what she is. She's a culinary major and likes electronic music
