Does anyone have those works that they write that they feel are just too embarrassing to post?
Like I write OC x Canon so much so often it can practically be considered a personality trait, but no one knows that because none of them have ever seen the light of day and probably never will.
✨disney✨ is my culture and that’s kind of horrifying
I’ve been watching movies like Coco and Encanto, and I started wondering something that hit harder than I expected:
Why do I — as a white woman in America — feel like I have no real culture?
No traditions. No sacred rhythms passed down. I don’t even know anyone past my great- great-grandmother, and I barely know anything about her. There’s no lineage in my hands. Just a vague sense of being American, and that’s… nothing. That’s Walmart and McDonald’s points and $900 a pill and losing my Medicaid while the president builds a ballroom.
Then I look at these Disney movies — filled with grief rituals, family altars, magical houses tied to memory, and I ache. Because I never got that. And it makes me realize:
Disney has been the only consistent thing speaking emotional truths to me my whole life.
And also?
It’s a megacorporation.
Built to keep me consuming.
It teaches me to cry, to believe in something bigger, to love my family;
but also to buy.
To keep scrolling.
To go to Disney World and call it a core family pilgrimage.
And lately I’ve been playing Dreamlight Valley, and my boyfriend was playing Kingdom Hearts, and I wanted to re-download Toontown of all things — because those are the only spaces that ever felt like magic.
Not family dinners.
Not church pews.
Not old stories told around a fire.
Just… digital Disney.
Fantasy as inheritance.
A carefully designed nostalgia machine as my mythological anchor.
I guess what I’m saying is:
I’m 32 and grieving the culture I never had.
And Disney, weirdly enough, is the closest thing I’ve ever had to a tradition.
Which is both beautiful… and terrifying.
Thank you all for waiting for me
Mental health is wild y'know?
Also may stick to the google website for a few days no instant notifications and alike for just a few days
Set up a minor boundary for myself.
Just one voice...
I’m new here.
No likes.
No support.
It makes me wonder — Is it me… or is this place too silent for newcomers?
To anyone reading this:
I’m not asking for applause,
Just a little presence.
A sign that I’m not writing into the void

Day 2: I feel like everybody is doing well, except me.
Recently, I've been carrying this quiet weight. It's that kind of feeling you don't always talk about, but it stays with you—particularly when you're scrolling through your feed and everyone appears to be doing well. I glance around and it feels like everyone else is making progress in life. They're buying cars, getting married, booking trips, starting businesses, settling down. Meanwhile, I'm here—still in school, still trying to figure things out, still attempting to make my many dreams something tangible.
And to be honest, it gnaws at me at times. That voice in my head continues to ask: "When will it be my turn? " I say that a lot. Perhaps too much. It's not that I'm not pleased for others—because I am. I really am. I've learned that sometimes, you have to clap for others, not because you're supposed to, but because it teaches you humility. It reminds you that life is not a race, and that good things take time.
But still… Some days are just more difficult than others. It's hard to watch the people around me get ahead when I feel like I'm still at the starting line. And I know that everyone's timeframe is going to be different, but that doesn't make it any less infuriating. Especially when social media only shows you the highlight reels—the wins, the glow-ups, the perfect moments. Nobody really posts about the nights they cried themselves to sleep or the mornings they woke up lost.
So here I am, basking in the pressure, the fear of failure, and the burden of expectations that I hadn't even requested.
I've considered giving up social media countless times. But it's not as easy as that. Most of my contact, my relationships—all of that's in that realm. Severing it means severing the world, and that just compounds the isolation. I used to dream big. Truly big. But now I feel like the older I get, the lesser my dreams become—not because I want them to, but because life makes you question yourself. I'm scared of ruining it all. I'm scared of letting people down, letting myself down. But even amidst that fear, there's still part of me that would want to believe. A part of me that desires to flourish, to make my existence worthwhile.
To be me in totality, unapologetically and authentically.
One day, I will make a difference. I don't know when, or how, or what it'll be... but I will. And until then, I'll keep trying. I'll keep clapping for others. I'll keep dreaming. Because even if I feel behind right now, I know my story is still being written. And if you've ever felt this way too... just know, I see you. You're not alone.
venting
lately, I've just been...worn out. like, all the time.
my days are nonstop because of work--it's just go go go, and by the time i do get a break, i'm running on empty and too tired to enjoy it.
i feel like i'm living on autopilot. by that, i mean i'm doing all the things i have to do, but not really feeling any of it. does that make sense?
and when i finally get time off? i'm so drained i just sleep. i don't even have energy for the stuff that's supposed to be fun, like writing, reading, listening to music, or scrapbooking (which I've really been missing lately). even holding a convo feels like too much sometimes.
idk. i'm not trying to be dramatic or negative or anything, i'm just....tired. in a way that sleep doesn't fix. exhausted. tired of doing this same thing over and over and feeling like i'm just existing, but not living.
i don't want to live the rest of my life like this.
