author’s note; shorter chapter but oh well welcome neon to the lineup...
While there were quite a few group training rooms there were also individual training rooms. I had made my way to the individual one, sitting down for a moment as I searched for the song and dug through my bag for the lyric sheet for our song.
I practiced for a while, making sure my pronunciation was correct along with just overall learning the song. The quietness felt amazingly as I looked over the lyric sheet, but shockingly the silence didn’t last long.
A knock came from the door, I looked up and saw Lego and Tui. I flashed a soft smile before pushing myself up and opening the door.
“Hi P’ Lego, P’ Tui. What’s up?” I asked as I made my way back to where I was sitting on the floor.
Tui shut the door behind him while Lego had already sat across from me.
“Well, P’ Hong came back without you and all your members are already done for the day and eating.” P’ Lego explained and I nodded. Tui plopped down next to me.
“I wanted to get a head start on learning the lyrics. But I was about to go and practice some more.” I explained, looking between the two of them. They shared a look but nodded.
“Let us help you. I think P’ William went with the group to go eat but P’ Nut and P’ Hong should still be in the training room.” Lego explained. I nodded, quickly packing my stuff up before pausing.
“Can I meet you two there? I want to change first.” I explained, Lego nodded happily before grabbing my bag from me.
I flashed the two of them a smile before quickly going to change. I rinsed off in the shower before changing, throwing on a hat before rushing back down.
By the time I made it back the four out of five LYKN members were sitting, just talking among themselves.
Lego smiled as I walked in, already getting up to walk over to me. The other 3 were a bit slower but it didn’t bother me.
“Is there any part you want to practice specifically?” Nut asked, and I thought about it for a second.
“The dance break. I feel like it will be the hardest part to remember.” I explained, earning nods from around the room.
The five of us ran through it a few times, Lego doing Williams parts when needed otherwise he was watching from the side.
We had just done it for a 6th time when the door opened, showing not only William but also Fern and Dao.
Lego greeted them while the other four of us were too busy panting on the floor.
“Mali, there you are. We have been looking for you.” Fern excitedly said, making her way over with a water bottle and towel.
I pushed myself up, sitting up and accepting it. Opening the water and taking a huge swig.
“I was just training.” I replied, looking towards the door as Jet walked in smiling at his phone.
“Mali, I want you to meet someone.” Jet excitedly walked over, immediately shoving his phone in my face.
I looked at the phone before looking back at Jet confused.
“Oh, right. Mali, this is my boyfriend Neon. He wanted to say hi, he really liked your performance.” Jet explained, pushing his phone into my hand as he sat next to me.
At first it took me a while to actually start talking, just letting the boy talk until I finally got comfortable. The two of us began laughing, which earned me a handful of stares from everyone else in the room. That was until Jet stood up, grabbed his phone back and began flirting with his boyfriend before walking out.
Once Jet left Dao rushed Fern and I to eat and go to bed so we would wake up on time. Fern and I quickly said bye to the LYKN members before leaving with Dao.

author’s note; the way this chapter has been sitting but i didn't upload, woopsies.
Dao had woken both Fern and I up and even made us breakfast. Even though I had just met the two girls I had felt very comfortable to be around them.
It was said that the company built this place specifically to do these survival shows, so that our rooms were connected to where we trained. In all honesty it seemed like a very big mansion.
The girls and I made our way to the big training room where we were meeting everyone else. As we got downstairs the cameras were already recording. Once we were all there they had us get with our groups.
I somehow ended up in the middle with Prem and Fern on my left while Jet and Moo stood on my right. They were having one person from each group go up and pick a ball that had a song name in it for our performance.
“Once you pick your ball, open it and show it to the camera before telling the room. Once everyone pulls your song I have an announcement.” Babe explained to us, everyone breaking out into small conversations wondering what the announcement could be
When it was our team's turn we all looked at each other, unsure of who should go up but then Fern pushed me forward. I stumbled forward, quickly turning to look at her but the four of them gestured for me to go.
I quickly made my way forward and pulled out the ball, I quickly opened it, hoping for a good song. I showed the camera first before turning it around to read it, a small smile appearing on my face.
I turned back to the crowd of contestants, I slowly opened the paper before speaking.
“First Sight by LYKN.” I flashed my team a smile before making my way over to cheer with them.
Each group got a song from groups that were under some form of gmmtv, once we all calmed down Babe began speaking again.
“As I mentioned earlier, once we finished drawing the songs I had a surprise. One of the groups you pulled will be here helping the group that pulled them. Does anyone have any guesses?” Babe smiled as she looked around, everyone breaking into side conversations trying to figure it out.
Babe’s eyes landed on me before she smiled again, “Mali, do you have any guesses?”
I paused for a second, squinting slightly at her suspiciously.
“LYKN?” I asked, wondering why she’d call on me out of everyone.
“Yup. Everyone, give it up for LYKN!”’ Babe excitedly said before the door opened.
The five LYKN members walked in, all of us greeting each other before they stood at the front of the room. They performed their newest song ‘No Way’ for us, earning cheers from everyone once they finished.
“Nong Mali’s group you can leave first with LYKN. P’ Tul will lead you guys to your training room.” Babe placed her hand on my back, flashing a warm smile before we got up and walked to the next room.
The LYKN members spoke comfortably amongst themselves while the other five of us stayed quiet. Fern had grabbed my hand, intertwining our fingers, squeezing it every few seconds.
Once we got into the room Tul left us alone, meaning it was just us five plus LYKN.
The five of them stood in front of the five of us, smiling for a few seconds before introducing themselves. Hong, Nut, William, and Lego had introduced themselves, but Lego squinted as he looked at the five of us.
“And who is the youngest of the youngest?” Lego asked. I slowly raised my hand, not shy but not very excitedly either.
“Your name is Mali, right?” Lego asked, smiling at me. I nodded once more which made him chuckle.
“You guys don’t need to feel so nervous, we don’t bite.” Nut teased, earning a slap on the arm from Lego.
“Mali, when were you born?” Lego continued, which shocked me. He must really want to hear me talk.
“December 27, 2005.” I replied, earning a collective ‘ooo’ from everyone.
“Wow everyone is older than you then besides Nong Lego, huh?” Nut teased, earning a slap on the arm from Lego once more.
“Please ignore him.” Lego shook his head and finally turned to the final member.
“Wow, I can finally speak. Hi everyone, I’m Tui. I can’t wait to see what you’ve got.” Tui flashed a smile that lit up the room.
“Now, it's your turn. We want to know your name, age, your usual role, and anything else you want to say.” Hong explained earning nods from everyone.
I had turned to see who would speak first but Fern nudged me again. I huffed but spoke.
“How are you four older than me but scared? Anyways, hi I’m Mali. I’m 20 years old, I’m from America, but was born in Thailand. I don’t really have a specific role, I can honestly do anything. I also write music.” I looked over the five LYKN members before turning towards Fern.
“She is truly an ace.” Jet spoke to Prem, which earned him a nod.
“Hi, I’m so excited to get to work with you guys. I’m Fern, I’m 21, and I am a dancer.” Fern nodded at herself after she finished speaking.
“Hi, I’m Moo. I am also 20. I am a vocalist.” Moo kept it clean and simple, looking quickly at Jet once he finished.
“Hello, I’m Jet. I am 20 for just a bit longer, and a rapper.” Wow, he also kept it simple. I nodded once he finished speaking. Everyone turned to look at Prem.
“Hi, I am Prem. I am also 21, and I am a vocalist.” Prem spoke, earning another round of nods from the room.
The boys had us watch the choreography video before we did anything, letting us see what part we were interested in.
Once the video ended I nodded, staying silently as I thought.
“I think that Mali should do P’ Lego’s part.” Moo was the first to break the silence, shocking everyone besides the LYKN members.
“Why?” Prem asked, looking between Fern and I.
“Well, Mali is the smallest. With the lifts it would make it easier, plus she would have to step on us. She says she is confident in anything and might as well give her the chance to show it.” Moo explained earning nods from everyone.
“I agree, I think that I liked P’ William’s part more anyway.” Fern replied, I looked up and saw Hong writing but ignored it.
“Does anyone else like a specific member’s part?” Lego asked, looking at the five of us again.
“I liked P’ Hong’s part.” Jet spoke as he raised his hand, earning a nod from Lego before he turned to Prem.
“I honestly really liked P’ Nut’s part.” Prem smiled, earning a laugh from Nut. Which left Moo with Tui’s part
“Mali, are you okay doing my part?” Lego asked and I nodded.
“Are you sure?” William asked, “If you are uncomfortable I bet Fern could do it.”
I shook my head, “I would be okay with any member's part. I’m not uncomfortable.” I replied, the LYKN members looked between themselves before nodding.
We all separated into groups of two, learning our part from the members. Lego and we were making amazing progress, even laughing with each other as we ran through the choreography.
By the time we paused for lunch the two of us had gotten most of it down, our two groups only stopped to eat since Tul brought us food so we could eat together.
We sat in a circle and small conversations broke out as everyone got more comfortable with each other.
“Mali.” A voice called out, I looked up and saw Hong looking at me.
“Would you be up to film a dance challenge with me while Lego tries to help Jet with the choreography?” He smiled as he asked, I turned to Fern who nodded.
“Uh, sure.” I replied before looking back down.
“Are you, hm, always like this?” Jet asked, which grabbed my attention.
“Like what?” I asked, looking at him confused.
“Quiet, kept to yourself?” He asked, I nodded.
“Why?” Moo asked, earning a slap from Fern.
“I don’t know, I have always been like this. I don’t see the need to be loud and hyper.” I replied, now stabbing at my food.
“But you always look sad.” Moo added, which Jet covered his mouth this time while all the LYKN members watched.
“I’m not sad. This is just my face, I guess.” I looked at him, but now he looked even more confused.
“You guess?” Fern asked, laughing as soon as the words left her mouth, and soon enough everyone else was laughing too.
“Hm, yea. I guess. I mean you’re saying I look sad, but I’m not. So I guess it’s just my face.” I explained, but it only made everyone laugh harder.
“Oh my god, she is so cute.” Lego smiled through a laugh, wrapping his arm around me.
I turned and flashed a smile at him, which made the whole room freeze.
“Did you just… smile?” Jet asked, my smile fell as I turned and looked at him confused.
Sooner than we knew it, lunch was over and we were practicing again. The other 4 of my members were running through the parts they knew in formation with Lego while Lego had me use his members to learn the harder parts.
After about an hour Lego and the other four had come to see what we had worked on, and helped me with the breakdance part, telling me what to do.
“Remember you have to trust them, I know you just met them but we don’t want you getting hurt.” Lego explained as me and the LYKN members just set formation for the dance break section. I nodded, taking in a deep breath before slowly running through it with the guys.
We did it a few times slowly until everyone was comfortable with us doing it at a normal speed.
We did it once at normal speed, and as soon as the music paused I looked at my groupmates to see all of them with their jaws dropped.
I turned and looked at the LYKN members and noticed they looked shocked too.
“What?” I asked, looking around the room again.
“I taught you all of the choreography today and it seems you got it all down already.” Lego replied, looking both shocked and pleased.
“How about we start from the beginning and do the song all the way until the end together? With you doing Lego’s part.” Hong suggested, I nodded, zipping my jacket all the way up.
Lego started the music, his eyes on me the whole time. Obviously I made a couple mistakes, whether it was me forgetting formation or a certain move, but we got through the whole song and most importantly we got through the breakdance part.
The five of us all laid on the floor breathing heavily, but I was startled when everyone started clapping. I sat up and saw even the LYKN members clapping.
“Can we actually just take you in as a new member?” Hong asked, making me let out a small laugh.
“Do whatever you please.” I replied, a smirk on my lips as he stood up and grabbed two water bottles, placing one in my hand before sitting next to me.
My group of five began working on formation, going piece by piece. Before Lego let me go, telling me I could go film with Hong. I said bye to my members before walking over to where Hong sat with Tui.
“Glad you could join us, Ace.” Tui teased while handing me a towel, I flashed a smile before sitting on the couch with them.
“You tired?” Hong asked, I sat and thought about it while I patted my forehead with the towel before shaking my head.
“You don’t talk much.” Tui commented, and I nodded.
“There isn’t much to say.” I replied, accepting yet another water bottle from Hong.
“Well, when you’re ready we can go record the dance challenge.” Hong spoke as he leaned back into the couch.
“We can go now. Where are we going to do it?” I asked while he began getting up.
“P’ Tul told me there was a room where we could do it that has props and cute set ups.” Hong replied, grabbing my bag for me and carrying it.
On the way there we ran into Babe who walked us to the room.
Once she left Hong began showing me the choreography to the song we would do the dance challenge to. It didn’t take long for me to memorize it and it only took a few takes until we were happy with it.
“Can we do another one? My solo song just came out recently. The one we just filmed was for the group account and I wanted this one for my own account.” Hong explained, I nodded while taking my jacket off.
He taught me the dance and it basically went the same as before. When we finally finished I put my jacket back on, and grabbed my bag but Hong stopped me, gently grabbing my arm and stopping me from walking away.
I turned back to him confused, raising my eyebrows slightly.
“We are bunking here this week, if you ever want to train late at night or have a late night snack you can text me. Let me see your phone.” He placed his hand out and I nodded, unlocking my phone before handing it to him.
He put his number in, texting himself so he had mine as well before looking back up at me.
“Can I follow myself on twitter? I’ll follow you back.” He asked, a shy smile on his face.
I nodded, humming but not speaking. He continued typing on my phone before handing it back and pulling his own out. My screen lit up with a notification from twitter. I flashed a small smile before continuing walking to the door.

author’s note; first chapter who is excited? I hope everyone enjoys.
It had always been a dream to debut, when I got scouted by both Thai agencies and Korean it had been very hard to pick between them. But when the Thai agency offered to immediately put me on a survival show for their final member I didn’t even have to think about it.
Everything moved quicker than I had expected, within a week I was on a plane to a whole new place not even knowing what to expect. While I was born in Thailand my parents moved us to America when I was two so I don't remember much. I only knew about the survival show and even still I didn’t know much. All I knew was that there would be 21 contestants, including myself, fighting to debut in RISER’s first co-ed group.
As soon as I landed I was immediately greeted with people from the company there to pick me up and take me to filming. Thankfully for sleeping the whole flight over and the adrenaline I was wide awake and honestly more excited than nervous.
“As soon as we get there we're going to get your hair, makeup and outfit done so we can begin filming. Everyone else should be done by the time we get there.” The lady who had picked me up explained, not looking up from her ipad as she worked.
“Ah okay, P’...” I paused, looking at her, realizing she never introduced herself.
“P’ Babe.” She flashed a soft but genuine smile before looking back at her ipad.
“Okay, thank you P’Babe.” I softly said before looking out the window.
It honestly didn’t take long to get there, but as soon as I did, I was practically dragged out of the car being rushed to get ready.
No one asked questions, instead jumping right into what they had to do. I felt like I should be nervous, anxious, anything but I felt relaxed.
By the time everyone was finished getting me ready, the last few staff members were rushing around to begin filming. I looked in the mirror chuckling slightly at my outfit. A grey pleated skirt, a blue cropped collared shirt, with a sweater over it. They had put a lot of accessories on me and the outfit. My makeup was very simple and my hairstyle was two high messy buns with little braids framing my face.
I had already been given the rundown, I’d be the 5th to perform. As I watched the first 3 groups, I had been very impressed yet still not an ounce of nerves bothered me. It had been obvious to me walking in that most of these people were friends, and some of them were even performing together.
As soon as the 3rd group finished performing a staff member came to grab me ready to go on stage. They gave me free reign to perform any song I pleased, which I had chosen Hob by Proxie. They had only said to not perform any songs by the groups under their company, which made sense.
I stretched silently as staff explained stuff about the mic pack, I hummed in response. They smiled at me before getting me situated, they had me test it before going on. Having me speak into it and jump a few times to make it was placed well.
Once the 4th group finished performing and answering questions they signaled me to go on.
The performance had gone amazingly, every note was stable and all the breathing techniques I had been trained on paid off. While it wasn’t perfect, I was still proud.
I stood center stage, the lights brighter than I had ever imagined, I was handed a water bottle as I waited for the judges to talk among themselves. Which gave me time to catch my breath.
“Honestly, I am impressed. You did that alone and your pronunciation was very good. How fluent are you? If I'm not mistaken we were told you were our only foreigner and the youngest one here.” An older guy spoke, I nodded along as I listened.
“I was born here but moved to America when I was young. But, hmm, I have been speaking Thai my whole life, so I would like to think it's at least decent.” I replied, a barely noticeable smile on my face. The judges all chuckled among themselves.
“We’re looking at your application up here, and we’ve noticed you left your skill blank, why is that?” A lady asked, I continued nodding as she spoke.
“Well, it says pick which I feel most confident about. I can confidently rap, sing, and dance.” I replied honestly, the audience breaking out into conversations as the judges at me.
“I see you have it checked that you write music. Do you do it in English or?” The first guy asked again and I thought about it for a second.
“I have written songs in English and Thai.” I explained, earning even more chattering from the other contestants.
The judges smiled as they looked at each other before nodding to me.
“We are very excited to work with you.” The lady spoke again and I bowed before being shown off the stage to get the mic and mic pack off me.
I watched the last few groups perform, earning looks from others every so often. Once we all finished and were all sitting again the lady came out onto the stage.
“Tomorrow training will start, but today you will be given this week's teams. We have 5 teams, 4 teams will have 4 members and 1 will have 5. This week it was chosen to be done by age. So the teams will go as follows. Group one, those born in 2001; Bua, Sai, Ram, Guy. Group two, those born in 2002; Golf, Cherry, Win, Dai. Group three, those born in 2003; Fah, Gun, Mai, Ploy. Group four, those born in 2004; Tan, Benz, Dao, Dara. And lastly our fifth, and final group. Those born in 2005, and there are five of you. Group five; Fern, Jet, Prem, Moo, and Mali.”
They had told us a few more things before dismissing us. I had begun making my way towards the changing room, but I hadn’t made it all the way there before being stopped by two girls.
“You’re Mali, right?” The one I remembered as Fern asked, I nodded.
“And you’re P’ Fern, if I remember correctly?” I questioned only to earn a giggle and nod in reply.
“Yes, I am. And this is P’ Dao. Your performance was amazing. How long have you been training?” She asked, immediately interlocking her arm with mine.
“With a company? Never. By myself? For 3 years.” I replied, both girls' jaws dropped before turning into smiles.
“That's so cool. You did all that training by yourself and you write music? You are a true ace.” Fern giggled again, dragging me towards the changing room.
I continued talking with the two girls, which somehow ended up in the three of us bunking together at the dorms.
We had all decided to go to bed early since we had training early tomorrow.
