Kasashima District, Honjima, Shiwaku Islands by JR Shikoku Railway Trip
Day 7 in Honjima again! Lotsa sweeping and weeding in preparation for the opening. Friendly old lady named Naoko gave my friend and I tickets to an art museum in Kyoto when she knew we were going there as part of our trip.
第7天又回到本岛! 过几天就开幕了所以要打扫拔草。直子奶奶听说我和朋友打算去京都就送了京都某美术馆的票给我们。
Day 3 in Honjima! We helped to get an art installation with big ships ready for the art festival so there was a lot of heavy lifting. The ocean view and cool breeze was nice during our breaks. Ate some grapes that looked like bananas at dorm. 第3天去本岛!准备在开幕前把大船作品设好打扫。有很多搬运工,但是休息时可以吹海风看美景也不错。回宿舍吃了香蕉般的长葡萄。

Great Promotion Video: Setouchi Triennale 2019
The Setouchi Triennale has very much grown up in the last 10 years. And this gorgeous video gives you a perfect sample of why it is so magical, beautiful, unique, and an unexplored gem for those who love Japanese culture, art, and people.
Thank you very much to the 2019 Setouchi Triennale Executive organizers who produce the year-long event, do the promotion, create the venues, support the…

Setouchi Exploration by Osamu Hasegawa
Setouchi Exploration by Osamu Hasegawa
Stunning. This video is simply one of the greatest I have ever seen that simply shows, and does not “tell” too much about the Setouchi (inland sea) of Japan. The creator, Osamu Hasegawa, runs his company from Tokyo and has a huge portfolio of seriously impressive work. I am thrilled to see his creativity come to Setouchi to explore and discover.
What I enjoyed most about this video is that while…

Some art from around Honjima.
It’s really cool how it’s ok to photograph pretty much all of the works in the Setouchi International Art Festival. I think it really helps get the word out about the event as a whole. I hope that more and more people come to the next festival in three years’ time. I’ve had so much fun going around to different ports and islands to check out the wonderful art. Actually, I’m really hoping that I can get involved and help the staff with their English skills. I saw a few examples of, “Oh no! Where’s the guy who can speak English!?” when non-Japanese visitors approached preparing to ask questions. If it’s going to be truly international, Setogei staff will need to have more confidence in speaking other languages!
