Now that I have grabbed your attention, let me take a few minutes to explain the definition I came up with for America. America, yes although there is danger and abstract behaviors in everyone, ranging in many roles of characters such as: rapist, murderers, gang bangers, kidnappers, sex slavery, abusers, cheaters, thieves, and many more terrifying ungodly known aches of our country, there is still a freedom and forgiveness in our culture that many other countries do not get the well known privilege of experiencing. This written opinion may make some of my readers upset but that is where I know that I have made a very solid point. Many individuals of the US, state that our country is a joke and we are not all “created equal” as our constitution has so greatly stated. Let me argue that point on a very recently read post of the New York Times “A Thin Line of Defense Against ‘Honor Killings,’ dated March 2, 2015 By Alissa J. Rubin, is all about the outrageous and heart wrenching pain of woman and young girls in Afghan who are so forcibly sold to men for money or other needs to profit there families for greater causes than their own lives and the escape route and hiding places they have to dig through to protect themselves and speak up against for themselves to no longer be harmed or neglected. Many women in fact at young ages can be married to any man who is willing to pay their fathers for them. “The man that they are sold too can not touch the young woman until she has had her first encounter with a period,” but can make her the slave and beat her and say harsh terrifying things to keep her as a peasant rather than a spouse, as we in America would look at it as. These woman, if they do run away from their families or the husband they have bet set up to live with the rest of their lives, can be caught and murdered or abused and torture with no repercussions done to the individuals who have done the acts of harm. Leaving these women in constant state of fear and anxiety for their lives. If a woman has ran away from her family, which is normally with another man, and they return to Afghan they are to be killed. These women have no choice, no freedom of speech or ability to create a life for themselves, or follow their own hearts desires and callings. There are these refugee homes that except these women in who have been either near deaths waking call or have returned home and know that they are in great danger because they have so called “disobeyed or dishonored” their families wishes and request. Acid: a chemical which is the number one weapon used on woman in Afghan to cause permanent damage and result in causing ultimate fear to be instilled in these women so that they obey. Afghan men can beat there wives and not be sent to prison or even be questioned on why they did these vicious acts. Men in this culture are known to be the most dominate creature and is to be seen almost as a king. Woman do most things, they stay up the latest and wake up the earliest. Men have no respect for these women. With that being said are they truly even called to be man. Jesus states in the Bible, the book of Mark, that “a mans body is not his own but of his wife, and women's body is not her own but of her husbands.” If I annotate that correctly to me that means a man is not more than his wife but of an equal spirit, body, mind, and soul with God and through God. Now for America, yes there are these pains, these harmful acts that do so much carry out through our country but a man isn't view as a dominate murder who is able to beat his wife. Here in America you can be sentenced many decades and a life time to prison due to the degree that you have harmed your spouse, meaning both man and woman can be at fault for the act. We, as citizens of the US are able to press charges and request restraining orders on individuals who have or may be able to cause harm to us. We have recently passed a law back in 2015 that states men can marry men, and women marry women. To some that may be gruesome and disturbing but look at the range of freedom we have as Americans. My opinion is to stay silent to that matter but my point is that, I, a woman have endless possibilities here in America. I am able to marry a man or woman of my choosing with out fear of being killed or having to be in protective care. I am able to be successful in any way that my heart desires and receive an income solely for myself. Yes many people say that woman makes less but the above article that I have read has made me, a woman, more appreciative or the woman's active life we can live through America. I could guide the USA as a presidential candidate if I truly was in the field of work to do so. This is a big wake up call that I know many young woman and older woman and even men who should see that America has its freedoms. America has its downfalls as well but to me I am now more honestly thankful for the life I live knowing what is going on in Afghan for these women, for these young girls, who have now lost their childhoods to slavery for a man who doesn't really love them but only needs them for work and play. As I read up more on ‘honor killings’ the more opening it is to be thankful from the moment you wake up, to the moment you fall asleep. Be grateful, be kind, be forgiving, and most of all make your decisions for yourself, because that's now the greatest freedom I have never taken full advantage of until tonight. I suggest you read the except that I stated about and give yourself some time to adjust your hearts, and your minds, to the knowledge that many of us are blind too. Lets not forget the bravery of the Afghan women, lets not forget the freedom in America.
