in my opinion al rawabi school for girls season one was just so much better than season two for one reason and one reason only. The topic. Season one actually targets real problems in the Arab and muslim world, honour killings. While season two targets problems that are a lot more general, it feels different.
Like season one had a lot of more arab/muslim issues in general, especially with Layan in the end, and it also targeted bullying and a lot of different things.
Honour killings are a thing that still happens, a lot.

Honor Killing

Maria Bibi, aged 22, was murdered by her brother Muhammad Faisal in front of her father who enabled her killing. Her brother Shehbaz filmed his brother strangling their sister on top of a bed in their family home in Punjab (censored images of the murder is on Google).
Shehbaz's wife also appears in the video. The murder continues for another two minutes, afterwards her father offers Faisal water.
All involved were arrested.

I was watching a documentary about honour or shame killings in different parts of the world, and yes it's still happening. The major of these murders are committed to women because they "bring" shame to the family or violated the principles of a community.
Some of the "reasons" for this is: refused to an arranged marriage, seeking for divorce, rumours about a family member that it would make the family look bad, homosexuality, victims of rape, etc.
In the documentary a father killed her daughter (a 23 year old girl) because she was seeing a man, they had sexual relationships before marriage and he took a video about it, he put the video on the internet, so everybody knew about the girl, her father took her away with the help of a cousin telling her they were going to another city because of the scandal, when they were in an empty road in the land her cousin took her out of the car and then, her father and her cousin killed her with two shotguns, she was pleading she wouldn't do it again, but they still did it.
The father talked in the documentary, he said he did it because he wanted to protect his others daughters honour, the interviewer asked him why he didn't kill the man, his answer was he didn't find him but he would kill him if one day he could find him.
He killed his own daughter because of honour, he thinks it was the right thing to do, a 23 year old girl was murderer because she "bring" shame to the family name, no one tried to protect her.
Every hour a "honour/ shame" killing is committed in the world, I think it's time to stop looking away and tried to do something about this and for everyone who think this only happens in what we call "third world countries" you are wrong, this could happen in any part of the world.
