the broken parts

there are the parts of you that are broken; these are the parts you know by heart. these parts are the ones that let the pain show through. there are parts of you that know the only way to see the sunshine is to crack enough to let the light in. it hurts just enough to leave you in the dark.

there are parts of you that will never really get any brighter; those are the parts who grow to like the dark, and the loneliness, and the way that they are broken. there are the broken parts of you, then, that try their best to block out your light.

Me during school: reciving awards for my creative writing, teacher letting me turn in stories i wrote about the subject instead if the set assignment, writing everyday, could come up with a story on the spot.

Me now: couldnt coherently write what i did during the day to save my life. Still has ideas but how do you write??

How?!

I’m correcting algebra homework, and most people fail at naive set theory (e.g. a set X is not the same as a set of subsets of X, and also not the same as a function X -> Y). These are people who have already taken courses in linear algebra and real analysis, and are currently learning things like measure theory and probability theory.

I'm loosing hope in your loving me, in us. But I guess that's what you are waiting for. It hurts, but I've given everything, tried everything and I've loved you with my whole heart and soul. I don't have anything left to offer you that I haven't already.

I saw the first ‘reacted to your message’ pop up on my notifications.

Then I waited, for another.

A minute passed, and I returned to working on my laptop, shaking my head at the foolish possibility of hope.

Two minutes passed, and I cracked my knuckles, sneaking glances at the phone beside me, willing for another notification.

Three minutes and sure enough, there’s a ‘ding’ on my phone.

“No way it takes three minutes to think of a reply,” I think.

I was right, it didn’t take three minutes, it took ‘never’.

It was someone else’s text.

I guess I shouldn’t have waited.
