loneliness and suffering -> realising countless people throughout history and in current times have felt the same way you do and have felt just as alone -> connection and some small relief knowing you don't need to carry this burden completely by yourself because of others, knowing you're never truly alone despite what you may tell yourselfh
As an outsider to Tumblr, one fascinating thing to find is that the art of the chain letter still exists and thrives here, while it has shriveled up elsewhere over the past many years, it seems.
Only, rather than lies, religious zealotry or Facebook grifts, the Tumblr chain letter is always stuff like "reblog to give the person a little kiss on the forehead," or "reblog to safeguard OP from terf bigotry."
So much of the internet is hateful and cruel. So finding people who intentionally make little posts to spread cheer and kindness and virtual cuddles is a breath of fresh air to my tired lungs.
More than that, it is proof that a website, and a community, is what we make it to be.
