Alright. So here’s the idea. What you see here will the poster-side of the poster-magazine. The other side will be full of information and more additional illustrations. Then it will be folded in a certain way and then... uh... yeah. Not sure yet what to draw on the caparison (thats the blanket-thingy the horse on the left is wearing. It is usually decorated with the coat-of-arms of the owner or other pretty decoration)
1.9.21 Lunchtime drawing: This armor for man and horse at the Met Museum brings me back to my days playing Dungeons and Dragons as a 12-year-old. Just pencil and no watercolor today, museum rules. The man’s armor is from 1575 (and probably from Milan) and the horse’s, 1560, the later coming from the counts Collato at the castle of San Salvatore in Treviso. Could you imagine wearing 47 lbs. of armor?
Throwback to this handsome war horse I made back in 2015. Should I make him again, updated? . #tumblecreatures #pony #horse #horseart #collectible #figurine #sculpture #polymerclay #artoftheday #modelhorseart #modelhorsecollector #warhorse #armor #horsearmor #battle #medieval #knight #battlehorse #baroque #horsesofinsta #handmade #toycollector #animalart #equineart
So far so good :D I still need something colorful and fancy for the caparison. And I need to relearn how to draw chainmail. For the underside of the horses neck in the middle. Also more shiny highlights. But I like this so far and it’s nice to draw these dudes :3 Random fact: In the middleages it was very common for horses and mules to wear small bells on their tack. Depending on how fast the animal would go the sound of the bells would change and a nearby human (even when blind) was - hopefully - able to make way in time.
