My helmet finally came!!!! Hopefully I get to break it in this weekend
Hi, I have questions about the knee part on armors
How ?
More precisely, is it fixed on the thigh part, if yes how, is it flexible in a way and how much can you bend your knees ? Could you flex all the leg like normal or does it restrain movement ?
Hi !!
It depends if your leg armor is fully articulated or floating.
Articulated means that the cuisse and the poleyn (knee) are linked together with rivets, the articulation comes from different interlocked iron layers, it looks like this :
And floating means that the cuisse and the knee have individual attachment, that can still be linked with leather straps :
Since floating is less restrained, it's probably more flexible, but if the articulated is well crafted it also allows plenty of room to move :)
This usually is how flexible articulated can be /!\ without chainmail or padded pants
(all of this are references for european ~14th 15th medieval armors , they change a lot depending on where and when)
Many pictures come from Age of Craft or Medieval Extreme
Polished anatomical breastplate I made for a theater project.
Doodles for Bibrawayhi on instagram ✨✨✨💛💛💛
He’s the founder of a Saudi reenactment group focused on the 10th century
I gave the first one a bit of a retro fallout vibe because we are New Vegas enjoyers yessss 🗣️🗣️🗣️
speaking of your art with all the medieval helmets it's so refreshing to see painted ones and other pretty little details (kettle helm striped crown(??) and different buckles for chin straps) the middle ages were bright and colourful! let's bring that back!
ANON YOU GET IT!!!!!!!!! FUCK YEAH
I think u just have to draw Diluc in armour Abel.
And I think you're sososo right
