Here's a beautiful but truly uncharismatic animal - the horsefly Tabanas sudeticus. This one was buzzing round at work before I put them outside (far away from the building). Big old thing, bit more than an inch long, can't imagine it'd be fun to be bitten by one of these.
Oof, yeah I can't imagine their bite would be pleasant. But they sure are strikingly pretty up close!
In the mood to wrap up my copious amounts of haters in a big motherfuckung sack made of cobwebs and slam them against the concrete and them jump on it to make a big hater gusher right there on the road fuck YOU

I still have no idea how to ask on Tumblr but I'll give it a try.
I need the lyrics geniuses, the insects experts and the Matt Maltese fans!
In "Smile in the face of the devil" at the beginning he says:
it's been a bad run, you've had some bad tries
It's a small life, you're a horsefly
I can't understand why but the world "horsefly" makes me think of a specific person, and I can't seem to find the meaning of this insect.
Does anybody knows what it might stand for? I feel like he uses it in a sweet way but I've always known horseflies as bad insects, any suggestions?
they call it a horsefly because it’s a horse, fly
they call it a horsefly because it’s a flying horse
they call it a horsefly because it’s a fly (cool) horse
they call it a horsefly for the same reason they call it a whalefall
they call it a horsefly because of the way it neighs
they call it a horsefly because it’s the zipper on a pair of horse pants
they call it a horsefly because it is a horsefly
they call it a horsefly but they could call it on the phone if they weren’t so nervous
they call it a horsefly because it was the only username they could think of on neopets
they call it a horsefly but they meant to say hoarsefly because its throat is raw from screaming
they call it a horsefly because they’re not yet on a nickname basis
they call it a horsefly becaude horses can’t fly and they value the absurd
they don’t call it a horsefly because they’re referring to it in another language
