Matthew had never gotten to participate in games like this growing up. Between dealing with problems his father (alter-ego or not, it was his father) stirred up and his grandfather’s stern way of living -- he simply didn’t have time to enjoy the little things. So, when he’d been told the objective was essentially capture the flag like in the video games, he was practically bubbling with excitement.
As soon as he was able to, he began scanning the island for flags. Wanting to collect as many as possible. He had a small map and was crossing off sections he’d searched. He had three flags hanging off his belt and was hoping that it would give his team the leap they needed.
As he inspected the map for his next spot, he heard rustling to his left. He jumped towards the noise, map clutched in his hand. Clearing his throat, he threw the other a sheepish look. “Hey, so uh, want to go flag hunting together? I’m not a fan of water and the only place I haven’t searched much is uh, is near the ocean.”
