Screaming, Crying, Throwing up.
he began as mommy’s husband, was crushing on his younger sister, hating on his older sister, and now he found a magical witch to whisper unsettling things to him in a haunted castle. aemond couldn’t have a normal relationship with a woman if he tried.
As someome whose latest hobby seems to be shitting on HotD, I can't believe people are shitting on Rhaenyra's execution of Otto. I think it was very well done, actually. "She was pathetic", "She missed" "Why is she still weak".
- First off, there is a reason executioner was a full time job. It isn't easy to cut someone's head off. Humans are sturdier than they look and swords are heavier than they look. Rhaenyra is not a trained warrior, and while valyrian steel is supposedly super sharp and light, she's still someone without any actual experience in beheading people.
- Rhaenyra is not depicted as a murderer, at least not in the sense that she's personally murdering people. For most humans, it wouldn't be mentally easy to just close up murder another human being for the first time, even if it was someone they hated. They portrayed difference between her and Daemon (who killed dozens by now, or even hundreds) pretty well I think. I have often evencseen it depicted as first-time killer getting sick from the act.
Anyway, to sum it up, I think Rhaenyra was depicted pretty realistically there and it was one of the better scenes in the episode. Bigger problem is that Otto was just chilling in the cells for weeks? and no one at his intended destination is shown questioning where is he.
Your thoughts on Episode 2? at this point I'm just hopping they won't butcher Black Aly that's my only request even if it's asking to much lmao :')
Meh af honestly. It was better than ep1 that's for sure, but not by much.
The fall of KL was rushed, contrived and underwhelming. Like we spend 2 eps questioning whether Alicent was sincere in her promise, only for Daemon to just agree to go into the Keep alone, with no ground forces for protection, despite KNOWING about the trap at Rook's Rest. Like... you couldn't even have him saying how he has friends in the Watch who will help them? No, ofc not, cause Saint I-have-no-IQ-points Alicent has to be the one to get the watch on their side instead.
That's not even covering the almost slapstick takeover of Harrenhal (I love how Aemond just gets soloed by a butter knife after randomly killing Diva Simon. I suppose he got his armor off Temu or some shit), Aegon and Larys' buddy adventure (it being comedic in nature was about the only thing I liked cause the rest was a hot mess), and ofc the godawful attempted rape. It served NO purpose, had no build up and is going to be forgotten in like 10min. I'm convinced it was just there so Ryan can go "see?! Alicent was right to sell out her kids and her side! They're all monsters, and she's the innocent victim!" Legit, what happened to this fandom being against unnecessary sexual violence against female characters? It seems we left that outrage in GOT s5.
And ofc, Rhaenyra is still hesitating and being pushed into doing stuff not cause she wants to; not cause she lost two sons (and Visenya, but the show seems to have forgotten she existed) for the crown and wants to make their sacrifices count, but because of the Song of Ice and Fire. Cause we can't have characters being ambitious or selfish; their goals must only be noble and esoteric at all times, otherwise the audience might find them unlikable.
Side note, but I remember when GOT made it a point to emphasize how the great Lords refused to put any stock into the White Walker threat, because they were too obsessed with their personal ambitions; which, while frustrating, made perfect sense for a bunch of entitled feudal nobles who only ever cared about their position in the hierarchy of power. HOTD seems to be doing the opposite. Personal ambition, loss, revenge, human grief and suffering don't matter. All these people are here to uphold the Song of Ice and Fire, and the rest is just background noise including the death of loved ones.
I'm tired lowkey.
Music was good tho. Ramin Djawadi never misses.
That scene of them carrying Jacaerys's body in...
"Alexa play Never Let Me Go by Florence + The Machine"
do you think daemon would be upset that rhaenyra and mysaria kissed? i can’t decide. he immediately picked up on the vibe, though. he knows something is afoot. maybe with rhaenyra and alicent too. where on earth are they going with this? i don’t know but i’ll probably enjoy it
both rhaenyra and daeron were pressured to execute someone this season, however, rhaenyra cut off the man’s head and daeron opted to stab him in the chest/heart. how does everyone feel about the symbolism? i guess you could say rhaenyra lost her reason/logic and daeron has to lose/harden his heart.
simon strong + right where you left me
