The Ideal Cartoon Network Hotel
As I’m sure many of you reading this have heard, The Cartoon Network Hotel will be officially closing today, after over five years of operation.
And after watching Schaffrillas’ latest video covering the hotel (which you should all go check out, it's really good), there’s been talk about how dirty the hotel was done.
And it’s not hard to see why.
Ever since I watched that video, I’ve been thinking about what The Cartoon Network Hotel could’ve been like if it was able to reach its full potential.
So today I wanna talk about what I think would be the ideal version of The Cartoon Network Hotel.
One that was able to live up to its full potential and avoid the pitfalls that plagued it and led to its downfall.
So sit back, grab a snack, and let’s jump right in!
To start this off, we need to establish the location of this hotel.
Right off the bat, the location that was chosen for the original was one of its biggest handicaps.
That being Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
Not exactly the most ideal location for a hotel themed around one of the biggest media brands out there.
Now choosing the location for this ideal hotel was admittedly really tricky.
Since Warner Bros. (the unfortunate owners of Cartoon Network) don't really have a major theme park for it to be near by.
Or at least one in the states.
There's Warner Bros. World and Movie World, but those are both located in Abu Dhabi and Australia respectively.
I think the best location for the hotel would have to be Orlando, Florida.
Not just because of its massive status as popular vacation spot, but also because it would serve a purpose to CN's legacy.
Cartoon Network's headquarters are famously located in Atlanta, Georgia.
And Georgia is literally right next to Florida.
Next we come to look and presentation of the hotel.
The hotel here will be a little bigger than the original, being about 7 stories.
Not to mention, it will actually be a HOTEL!
Since most of the rooms of the original were essentially motel rooms.
The presentation of the hotel won't be too different from the original, which did a fairly decent job at making you feel immersed in the world of Cartoon Network.
However, there would one notable and important charge here.
And that would be the representation featured in the hotel.
A major complaint towards the original was how for a hotel themed around Cartoon Network, it only really focused on the cartons from 2010 and onwards.
With most of the representation being around Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Ben 10 (2016), and The Powerpuff Girls (2016).
And some for The Amazing World of Gumball, We Bare Bears, Craig of the Creek, Teen Titans GO!, Summer Camp Island, and Victor and Valentino.
But even then, other 2010s CN shows notably got left behind like Clarence, Uncle Grandpa, OK K.O.: Let's Be Heroes, and perhaps most baffling on all: Regular Show.
But this version of the hotel would fix that issue.
The hotel would not only represent just about all the original shows from all throughout Cartoon Network's history, but also the acquired programming that played a key role in the channel's identity like....
-The classic cartoons of Warner Bros. and Hanna-Barbera.
-The characters of DC Comics.
-The original cartoons of Teletoon.
-Even the shows of the more mature programming blocks like Toonami and Adult Swim.
And this would be best shown with painted murals featuring characters from all throughout their history that would be adorned all throughout the hotel.
As for the six floors above the main one, they would feature themed rooms, all under a common theme.
The second floor is The Cartoon Cartoon Floor, featuring rooms themed after Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Ed, Edd n' Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Camp Lazlo, Class of 3000, Chowder, and The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack.
